Even when you are growing your hair out it needs to be trimmed. This keeps the split ends away. When you go to get it trimmed, make sure you stress to the cosmetologist that you only need the ends snipped. When you find a stylist you like stick with them. They learn your hair, and your personality and can help you in choosing what to do with it. Good shampoo and conditioner are a must. Many over the counter products build up on the hair (not good).

It takes a lot of patience to get through the ugly stages. A trim every 6 weeks of just the ends, or to clean up other areas which grow faster helps. The less you do to your hair the more healthy it is. Less washing. Less styling products. No chemical treatments. The best person at a salon to see is a stylist with long hair, herself, and better yet, the same kind of hair that you have. They will show you how to style your hair a new way through the ugly stages.

Go to the salon and let them know that you're trying to grow out your hair. Tell them only to cut a little off the back so you don't look like you have a mullet. Stress that you don't want them to cut too much off. You should be fine! I grew my hair out (after it was shorter than little orphan annie's) and it wasn't too hard. It just took time. With my haircuts included, I'd say it took about a year and a half to get past my shoulders.

The same thing happened to me. I got brave and did a total boy cut and growing it out sucked! The back does unfortunatley grows faster and you WILL have to keep that trimmed until the front catches up. If you don't your hair will look as if you have a mullet. Just keep up with the trims and before you know it, it will be down to your shoulders and all one length. Make sure to take vitamins and do conditioning treatments to help it to grow faster.

Go to the salon and explain to them that you are growing your hair out and have them trim the ends only. You should do this every 8 weeks or so just to keep the ends of your hair healthy and growing at the same rate.

What you should do is go every once in a while (once a month) to the salon to have it trimmed...that way, the hair will grow fast and more frequently. But don't over do it cuz then you'll be gettin yourself nowhere. So just get it trimmed every once in a while and continue washing it to keep it healthy. good luck

Just let it grow. If you go to get it trimmed every now and then, that will help it grow. If you feel that it looks too tacky and you want them to layer it, just tell them exactly how much you want cut off and ask them to not cut off any more than that. And don't wear hats.

If it's not damaged, don't cut it at all. If you do color, keep it only on the roots when you toch it up. My hair grew the fastest when I kept it simple. I washed it and let it go,never went for hair cuts or used conditioner either.

You have to go through the changes to get your hair long, that means the dreaded parts, where it grows outward before it grows downward, you can do it...
