Yes, weed makes you stupid. Your short term memory will return if you stop smoking it. I used to be so burnt out that I often would forget what was being discussed mid-conversation. I have been clean and sober now for 8 months, and I am amazed at how much has returned to me.

I think it depends on the person, I know people who would turn into complete idiots after smoking weed, but others who would do so much better in school when they were stoned. Also, it might not be very good for your short term memory, but it is supposed to help with Alzheimers.

Yeah, weed makes you stupid. You only have so many brain cells, and once brain cells are killed they don't come back. So it's best to stop while you can. I mean- look at Ozzy! Of course he was into heavier drugs too. I really don't think that your short term memory comes back after you stop smoking it, because like I said: Once brain cells are burned you can't get them back. But what you can do is not kill anymore

It doesn't make you stupid, per se, but it does distract you from everyday responsibilites and impairs your judgment. So, I suppose you could call it stupid if you wanted.

Long term use can lead to what's termed an "amotivational syndrome," characterized by apathy and disinterest in achievement (c.f. Cheech and Chong).

The sooner you stop smoking it, the better your memory will be.

Over a period of time definately has memory effects on your brain. I am not sure of the medical proof but every long term user I've known has memory issues big time.

I've smoked pot for about a year now, smoking just about every day. My short term memory sucked before I started smoking, and I don't think it's gotten any worse.

Also, I had over a 3.5GPA last semester and I was taking Calculus, ecology, geoscience, and philosophy...NOT easy classes. I even went to class high multiple times.

Its supposed to but the smartest guy Ive ever known would smoke 6 joints a day. But on the down side I guess he was a smart loser, because he never had a real job.

no...it does not make you stupid...it let's you see into the soul of your neighbor. I know a dude who smoked everyday and got his phd in engineering at 25...and a hot little brazilian tomale with tatoos all over her that smoked 10 times a day who graduated from Georgetown law with a 4.O - I think she is hooked on crack now - living in Mexico

It, however does put you in touch with spirits from another realm that always seem to eventually get the best of you.

I quit and God started showing me the doors he had already opened for me...and I plan to walk through one of them someday

Yes, it has the POTential to make you stupid. It kills brain cells and kills a lot of time that could be spent pursuing learning activities.

And yes, you can work to rebuild a better working memory after using a lot of it.

It depends how long you smoke it. If you have been smoking weed for years you have killed so many brain cells the damage is irreversible.
