Firstly, Saint's are NOT worshipped. That being said ...

His birth date and birthplace are unknown. Valentine's name does not occur in the earliest list of Roman martyrs, which was compiled by the Chronographer of 354.

The feast of St. Valentine was first decreed in 496 by Pope Gelasius I, who included Valentine among those "... whose names are justly reverenced among men, but whose acts are known only to God." As Gelasius implied, nothing is known about the lives of any of these martyrs.

The Romano Catholic church? What is that?

There is the ROMAN Catholic church....

And St. Valentine who was a priest; was made a saint on the date of his death 260 AD, because he was a martyr; died for the faith--pretty instant. About 200 years later the Church recognized his sanctity and made it official.

And worship him? Clearly you know little about the "Romano" Catholic faith ....He (and other saints) isn't worshipped; he is utilized as an intercessor in prayer; don't Evangelical Christians get together and hold hands and pray together? Catholics believe that those who are saints in Heaven and they have eternal souls, they are alive; why not ask them to assist us in prayer.

St. Valentine was an early saint, martyred around 260 C.E. As with many martyrs of that time, he was venerated by the Church. However, I'm not sure of the exact year that he was added to the canon.

Never. Saint's aren't worshiped. If you want to know the year he was canonized, that was 269AD.
