Smoking in virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces is to be prohibited by law throughout the United Kingdom.
The smokefree law forms part of the Health Act 2006. Implementation of the law varies for each country as follows:
Wales 2 April 2007
Northern Ireland 30 April 2007
England 1 July 2007
(Scotland’s ban on smoking in public places came into force on 26 March 2006).

Answer from a butthead (me): no, sponsoring me would not make me more likely to quit. There is no defense of smoking (I'm a smoker and I ought to know). But to feel "pressured" into quitting only makes the rebelious side of me rare up. For someone else to give their money to something, and then say, "it's your responsibility to justify this donation" just doesn't sit well with me. I'll quit when it's my decision, and yes, I know that might mean "when I die", but, stupidly enough, that's my decision too.

The smoking ban in France came in last week,and every single smoker in the country has ignored it and carried on .....power to the people!

It might influence you.... but the bottom line is.... you have to want to quit.... and you have to take action on the wants.... try quitting for all the right reasons... such as health and hygiene
