I don't like it. I find it offensive to be shopping and turn a corner to see a woman with her breast exposed.
And since I'm going to get blasted, despite the questioner asking what MY opinion was - urinating and having bowel movements are natural processes too, yet there are "indecent exposure" laws out there about urinating or defacating in public. How is breast feeding exempt? Picking our noses is also "natural" (have you ever watched chimpanzees or orangutans at the zoo??) yet we teach our children that picking their nose is disgusting.
I just don't get the disconnect as to why some of it is acceptable and some of it is not.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with public breastfeeding, and I really don't understand why people get so worked up over it. Babies have to eat. My daughter is 4 1/2 months old, and she has always refused to drink from a bottle. I have even had to take off work just so she will eat. If I want to go anywhere, I have to expect that I will nurse. There are times when I go to the car (like noisy places), but I do nurse in public (with a blanket, of course to cover exposed areas). For us it's not an option. It's just the only way my baby will eat.

I think that its completely normal and natural to breastfeed and if other people have a problem with it the to bad for them. Now most women feel more comfortable covering with a blanket, but I don't think it should be obligatory. I've also heard that a number of women find it awkward to get the baby positioned, latched at what not with a blanket in the way. You can see pictures of breastfeeding babies in magazines and on billboards, what difference does it make in a mall or a park? I'm only 5mts with no.1 so I haven't done it yet myself, but heaven help the person who complains at me for feeding my child in the best and most natural way for him to eat when the time comes.

I see nothing wrong with public breastfeeding. It's natural and a necessity of life. We can't always pick and chose where baby is hungry.

If a mom decides to nurse the couples child then they have to feed the baby when it is hungry. I think it is okay with the exception they need to be classy about it not just hang their boob out and feed the baby. They make shirts for nursing and or drape a blanket over them.

Women have the right to nurse their children anywhere that they have the right to be. Moms should not feel as though they need to remain stuck at home. And nursing babies need to eat frequently, especially in the first few months. Nursing in public should be seen as a normal thing. It's just a mother feeding a baby people.....nothing wrong with it! You can't see anything anyway.....between mom's clothes and baby's head you see LESS flesh exposed by a nursing mom than at the local swimming pool. A BIG THUMBS UP to all the mothers to nurse there babies when and where they need it!

It's just a natural part of life. I think it's fine. If others have an issue with it, then it's their issue - not yours. Most people use a blanket or something to conceal a little, but that's up to you.

A little discretion is nice, but breastfeeding isn't something you can "put off" until it's convenient.... when the baby's hungry, give it a boob!

There is nothing wrong with breast feeding in public as long as she is being discrete about it.
