I learnt a long time ago to have two hard drives on my pc. On the second hard drive I put data and music and stuff that need not be re-installed once you have wiped your first hard drive. So all my music I put on the second hard drive. If you only have one, do what one erader hereunder suggested, use a portion of your hard drive to store your music and the format the rest. Good luck!! Remember to import your music again, other wsie your program, especially iTunes will not find it

Yes, I would highly back you your iTunes or Music folder to another hard drive. You can find some cheap ones for around $50 or so. It's worth it considerally reloading or purchasing 2500 would be a pain in the ****!

I've always kept a 2nd hardrive for that sort of archiving but if you only have 1 you could just creat a partition and store your files there.

Your other option is to burn it do disc. You could leave it all in mp3 format and burn a data disc to archive it all. You'll get about 200 songs on a regular cd (depending on the bit rate you've got them in) or if you have a dvd burner you can fit the whole lot on one dvd disc.

Norton (Ghost), Acronis and Storagecraft are distributors of those applications.

I did. And the company was NO help in retrieving them either. I had a friend with an iPod reinstall the songs, and that was the only way I got them back too. Good luck to you. Only other way, would be if you have them on cd's, is to put them all back on their, in the event they are lost.
