No they shouldn't, if a child who is seriously ill comes into accident and emergency we as nurses should say sorry this lady is first as she has paid more ni than you, that is such a silly question, it goes on the most serious injury first and most life threatening

consider it from their point of view, having paid in for 60 years and then told to wait, while immigrants and other visitors get treatment before hand. How would you feel? All NHS treatment should really be on a priority basis of lifethreatening illnesses first, regardless of age, but if you're a pension then you haven't got as much time left to wait and quality of life is important at any age.
So yes, pensioners and indigineous English first - immigrants, visitors, everyone else should join the queue.

This is a hard question. I think that the people who are most ill whether young or old, should be given priority treatment. I also feel strongly that Doctors shouldn't blame age when pensioners complain of painful conditions. Pensioners deserve respect, care and sympathy. After all, we too grow older by the day.

Yes yes yes pensioners worked very long hours, they also worked a lot harder because there were no electric tools like there is today.
There wages were next to nothing and if they were off sick they didn't get paid. there were no social security. Up to i think 1947 i think it was A doctor had to be paid for £1 for a birth
and 10 shillings for a midwife. They fought in the war to make this country a better place for us. Give them priority. well done old yins.

I think that older people should get priority because they are more likely to have life threatening illnesses not be cause they paid longer. The reason behind having a National Health Service is to provide treatment regardless of ability to pay.

yes they should.
their generation have paid the most & recieve the least.
but we have a horrible spreading discrimination within the NHS.
anti old, anti disabled & anti common-sense.

my mum is having this problem at the moment.
she's paid her taxes & paid her NI, all her working life.
she's been told there r babies/children & younger people, who will b seen first!

this is a popular deflection media game 2 make the older people feel responsible 4 every1 else.
& while the Patients r busy arguing amongst themselves over who should b seen first, the NHS is left 2 it's own devices.
2 add more pen-pushers & policy makers 2 an already over-stretched NHS.

Damn right they should .... they have paid their dues for 65 years plus and deserve the treatment they need. Certainly they deserve priority treatment over any immigrant into this country!!!

ofcourse not. They have paid the longest simply because they have been around the longest. A lot of other people, when they get to the same age, would have paid a similar amount.
