How temperature sensitive are these Fish?

Since a Heater can use AC or DC voltage, the key to heater operation is actually CURRENT....

You can stack DC Batteries in Series to obtain higher Voltages to get the needed Current, or you may find a 12 Volt DC heater built for batteries.....But you may have to install several to get the heat for such a large tank....

The KEY to me is....see what type of heaters are presently out there...See if there are 12 Volt heaters....see how many Amps it consumes at 12 V ; or Stack 10 Batteries to create a 120 V power supply....man that's a lot of money!! $400 in batteries alone....

A 120 Watt heater only pulls 1 amp at 120 Volt since Volts x Amps = Watts. So 12V x 6 Amps = 120 Watts too....6 amps x 5 hours = a 30 amp-hour battery.....

Maybe you should get a 12 V to 120V ac converter and a 1000 amp-hour battery and a battery charger.....

That's all that a UPS is......

You could rent a generator for the 5 hours from one of those tool & equipment rental places. That would be the best idea.

There are UPS's with extended run times when used with external battery packs.
