could using any brand type computer get really old as far as trying to open files or download programs? What I mean is, if you keep using a computer for a certain amount of hours or days, could that result into a slower computer? Also, if you try to put on a game that you've installed and uninstalled into the computer about a couple of times, the next time you try to install the game again, you can't get into that program. Would that be due to the amount of space you've already used up or something?

Obviously the more you use it , the more it gets used... Like a car.. if you dirve it everyday.. it wears down... or if you leave it in a garage only driving it occasionlly it lasts.. am I saying only use your PC sometimes.. NO.
What I do STRONGLY recommend is... CLEAN your pc out.
That is the BIGGEST factor, besides virsuses that make it slow. Delete those old games.. old pics, files... that you DONT need. Everytime you try to run a program it has to look thru all that junk to find the right things to make it run.
Secondly... newer games have alot of graphics on them.. if your graphic card isnt that large .. it makes your machine slow to run... and yur also need a certian ammount of RAM. Unless you have a large gaming drive.. or buy more ram .. I would suggest leaving the games for the X Box or Playstation... I dont run games .. I did the sims.. and boy did that screw my PC for life... thats basically all I can do on that old thing...Maybe if your budget permits.. leave that old PC for games ONLY.. take out all music and pics.... buy a new pc or laptop with windows vista.. and newer PC have better Graphic and Ram capabilities.
ALso Try this 30 Free Trial of AVG SCanners... ( after you download and install) there is a section labled... prosesses... select auto start... there are probably.. 30 things starting when you start your PC which also SLOWS it down. remove things that you DONT need to START when you turn your pc on... you can always click on them and start it if you choose... later... hope it helps...

Typically, the longer you use a computer, the slower it will get. You can run Disk Defragmentor, which comes with Windows, to combat this. This basically organizes your hard drive so when Windows goes to look for a file, it can find it more easily.

Also, when you install a program it adds files to your Windows directory (usually called DLL files) and adds data to your registry. Sometimes even when you uninstall these programs, they leave this mess behind. When another program goes to look for it's DLL file or a registry entry, this slows it down.

There are also programs that automatically start up when your computer starts. You can look at these by clicking the Start button, then Run, then typing MSCONFIG and hitting enter. CLick on the Startup tab and there will be a bunch of programs that start up when your computer starts. Some of them you can disable, but you have to be careful that you don't disable anything important. Just because you don't know what it is, doesn't mean it isn't important. It could cause Windows not to boot.

As far as installing and re-installing a game, when you remove the game, it will free up the space it had been using. There's no obvious reason for the program not running after installing and re-installing it a couple times. You can always check your hard drive to seehow much hard drive space (capacity) is left.

Every time you install/un-install a program, game etc..; you leave behind abandoned Registry entries. These will keep compiling and making your computer sluggish. Also, EVERY time you use your computer; you fragment the files. I would suggest a good registry cleaner, an optimized defragmentation program. Many are offered as Shareware. I use System Mechanic 4 ONLY for its Optimized defragger. I use RegAid 1.1 to clean the registry. If you have never used your on-board defragger, do so now. If your OS is windows XP, it can be found this way; Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools. You will also find the on-board Disk Clean Up here. Use The clean up, then defrag. Hope this helps. Also, Adaware SE Personal is an available shareware program. It will find all sorts of bugs, spyware and other questionable files left on your computer. It is easy to configure and use and also contains a registry compression tool.

I don't think it really matters about what type of PC your using, even if it's been used everyday. The more you download or install program's etc. on your PC your drive is getting fuller and maybe slower. Not so long ago my PC was getting slower and fuller so instead of going out and buying a brand new PC I bought myself some RAM and also I bought a new hard drive(because my old one was nearly full) I used my new hard-drive as a slave, so now I have 2 hard dives on my PC, the original one with my pro grammes etc. and my new one which I can throw anything I like into it like movies, games music videos etc. It worked a treat for me! It's very important also to delete things you don't need or use anymore, defrag also remember to delete your cookies, but as some stage your PC will use up your space, how long that would take I have no idea! but you can keep check on your hard drive space by clicking my computer, open, then go to your local disk c right click it and go down to properties then you will be able to judge for yourself. Hope this helps you a bit!

Broadly, No.
The Amount of space available on your C drive is significant.
So long as you run disk utils like Clean Disk, Defrag, and chkdsk/f, then most of the computer will work fine.
A Good Antispyware like ADAWARE SE, and a good Antivirus, will help in keeping things operating well. And conventional wisdom is that reformating your PC every 1-2 years is a good thing. I don't know about this last suggestion, but I know that after several years of use, things accumulate, so more memory is usually useful. And often a Larger hard-drive. Plus, ghosting/Imaging your PC to an external drive is a good choice as well.

yes, a computer needs defaged about 1 time a week and also needs a good regisrty cleaning. along with possible viral and spyware check-ups. if there isn't much drive space left on the HDD, this is a big factor on speed along with memory. as far as the games or games you spoke of, it could have the effect you are describing. even though you uninstalled the game, part of it still remains in the registry and in other areas of your HDD. by using a registry clean you can get rid of all these things and speed your computer up. if it gets too slow, then it is recomended to reformat the HDD and reinstall the operating system. if you go and download regisrty cleaner, it will clean the regisrty up for you . email me and i will help with the registration portion of it. it can be a bit tricky....

certain programs open or add files to temp directories. The larger these temp directories the slower your computer. I had one at work that quit opening Excel files because the user had opened the same file 99 times. Once the temp files were deleted, no more problems with Excel and it ran faster.

If you mean the hardware components get slow because they're being worn out, no it doesn't work that way. My computer has been worked hard the last 5 years, and it's just as fast as when I first got it.
