i check in then go change and book a table then eat. i work in a hotel and i've never seen anyone come in ready dressed to go out, unless they had no choice.

I'd say most people would come in dressed casually, then change for the meal, if it's a very fancy restaurant that is. If it isn't a really top-rated hotel & restaurant then just getting a bit of a fresh-up, washing hands & pulling a comb through your hair, is probably enough. The time of dressing up formally for regular restaurants is sorta past, that's only expected in very expensive restaurants or for special occasions.

Depends on the details of the situation, but generally dress casually. You're likely arriving after travelling a ways, so you wouldn't have a chance to change out of your comfortable travel clothes before getting to the hotel.

I would dress nicely to check in, it saves time. if one gets undressed in the room, if with a romantic interest the dining facilities may close before clothing is thought of again.

right think to do is check your room make sure its to your satisfaction...then decide wear to go for Dinner..cleaning up also
