Have you encountered parents who seem to have lost perspective? I'd like to hear your story. Here's my example:

I am a cancer survivor. At the height of my battle, I had radiation sickness and water on my brain. I lost all motor skills-walking, writing, brushing my teeth, etc- I had gained 50 steroid induced pounds in 3 months from the heavy steroid dosage I was on. Several times, when people saw how uncomfortable I was in my bloated, broken body, people said to me, "Now you know how hard it is to be pregnant." I mean, COME ON! Right?

Thank you for the sympathy. Yes, I am cancer free and fine now. I wasn't looking for sympathy however. This is only one example of ways I have noticed parents think that what they are going through is a way bigger deal than it is (considering parenting is the world's oldest profession). Do you have your own examples to add?

OMG! How unsensitive and self-righteous. I'm sorry that on top of a horrible desease you were made to endure ignorance. I can't believe people can be so callous. I mean I suppose they didn't know what to say, but it's better to say nothing at all than to say something that stupid.

I hope you've improved.

Wow how insensitive for someone to try to teach you about birth control while your going through something like that! Congrats on overcoming your battle with cancer. Even though their timing was terrible it seems that, that might be just their way of handling the situation, they were looking forward to when your better and older. Parents can be out there but the fact of the matter is that it's because they care.

No dear I don't believe they could be the same. I'd say your condition was worse and you had much more to deal with. I've given birth twice and it wasn't a picnic, but it wasn't life threatening and I wasn't constantly afraid of dying. The people that made that remark, have no earthly idea just how hurtful it was for them to say that to you.

I hope you are recovering and cancer free now. BIG HUG TO YOU.
