Go to www.askapatient.com and type in the drug you are researching. I find it really helpful in getting other peoples opinions both good and bad on things like weight gain and sexual side effects, etc. I personally found lexapro had the least side effects if you combined it with welbutrin to combat the fatigue. Sometimes a combination of drugs is better than just one. I have not tried effexor or some of the newer ones. Good luck. Here is the link for paxil as an example

I have taken zoloft as well; for two years. I came off of it for four years and started to experience enough symptoms to need meds again. I could not stand the way zoloft was making me feel this time. I spoke with my doc and he put me on Paxil CR. I have had no problem adjusting to the Paxil CR. For me if there had not been something other than zoloft to try I probably would not be getting better at the fast pace that I am.

Hope this helps. good luck!

ive tried those and u know. i honestly feel they didnt help me. medicaiton just "medicates you" .. wha are u depressed about? i tried ativan, paxil, zoloft, celexa etc(all kinds of meds) in the past and honestly can say exercize, herbs/vitamins are helping me..getting OUT more.. are helping me.. as well as acupuncture.
the medicine just made me a 'robot' some made me sleep more some made me have more anxiety.
can u get a massage? that will help releave some stress
some people like meds. i didn't. i got KAVA KAVA yesterday and am going to try that .. read up on some herbs, the have some that help with depression.. (and no bad side effects like meds)

none. all have very serious, dangerous long-term side effects and horrible withdrawal problems-Paxil being one of the worst.

Drug companies today are not just selling medicine but also the diseases that go with them. You have "social anxiety"-- which, before the drug was invented, would have been called "a little shy" and perfectly OK. I think you'd be better off doing something positive in life and learning to accept your quiet personality, rather than taking drugs.

Trust me, You DON'T want to get on Paxil. I was on it for 10 years and almost killed myself coming off it. I think the best alternative is either Effexor (it may make you sweat) or Lexapro ( just a slight ringing in your ears) Stay away from Prozac ( makes you see and hear things) or Luvox ( tends to make people violent)
I should know- I started taking Pamelor when I was only 15 and have tried almost everything on the market.
