It is Jumbo jet. Then the DC-10, Tristar, and others took the same nickname. It was originally designed as a cargo/military jet. That is why the cockpit is on top like the C-5. The military didn't like because it couldn't carry a tank and dumped the project. The salvaged it into a great airliner.

Many airlines had nicknames for the 747. At Northwest it was frequently called "the whale. " Many years ago Braniff pilots called it "Fat Albert." "Seven-Four' or "Four-Seven" is common.
There may be others too.
