it says in Thesalonians 5:1-3 "Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."

this would seem to say that we don't know when the end will come but there have been countless people who have claimed to know, even to the minute, when the end will be. What leads them to their conclusions?

Please back up your answer with whatever scripture you believe in.

We dont know for sure, not even Jesus knows, but the way the global warming is going, we can really stay on the earth very long...So, i think within the next 50yrs. Just a guess...Only the father knows. You might consider watching, An Inconvienent Truth, by Al Gore.....He doesnt talk about the bible, mostly the earth. But if you are a believing christian, you can go right along with the bible to what he is talking about.... The only hint he gives is a little remark " " its almost like taking a nature walk through the book of revelation"..

Matthew 24:44 says, "Be ye therefore also ready, For in such an hour as YE THINK NOT, the Son of man cometh." The Bible doesn't offer a specific day, but the generation in which "all these things must come to pass" (signs of the times) will be alive for the most part when it does occur? Want semantics? Watch CNN and compare it to the book of Revelation's happenings, and you'll see how truly close we are!

Date setting is wrong... any one who puts a date to when the Christians are removed from here... don't believe them turn and walk away. Christ will come as a thief comes to steal at night when the house is empty of those who live there. Christ will come for His bride... that is the day we no not ...

The Second Coming of Christ to literal earth.. we will know by the years the Antichrist reigns. We know he will reign seven years... upon the closure of those seven years.. Christ will come

The world will end when we see certain things happen....when the generation that saw Israel become a nation and gain her land... will not all pass away (rapture) When Christ steps out and literally touches earth ... where it splits... we know the end of this world as we know it will soon pass away(Second Coming). Until then... don't worry about when... just worry about whether or not you will escape the wrath that is coming.

Matthew 24
Daniel
Revelation
Isaiah

Ezkiel

Hopes this helps you... at least if gives you a start of where to go in scripture and find all these dealing with the Rapture and Second Coming. Rapture is the catching up...

Misunderstanding. I was told in 1976, 1982 and 1986 that the time was here. It still hasn't happened and I no longer bother with that nonsense. Jesus will return if and when he does and if he doesn't, it doesn't matter to me. I try to live a good life as he commanded and what will be, will be.
Yes, I probably am a Laodicean.

The world itself will not end, but all the badness will. And the only person that knows the exact date and time is GOD. Jesus doesn't even know the day or time.

Mark 13:32 - "But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone."

The Christians have been saying the world is going to end for the last 2000 years and every single time, the date passes and they just push it back further.

The world isn't going to end any time soon. Might as well just get used to it.

Great point.
Jesus was very clear that we would not know when the end was.
All we can do is watch and pray.
Shalom!
