I compared them to Chicken Licken. They didn't like that.

No Chippy (what a precious name) we are not like the boy who cried wolf at all. It is not a Christian cry at all actually it is scientific fact that the world is slowly coming to and end. I would think that if you are an atheist(being as science minded as you all are) that you would be the first to admit that the world began, as do most things, "dying" the day it came in to being.

Hey chipster- I think you are the wolf that cried boy!
-I am not saying the world is about to end, but I do see a lot of things happening today that the Bible speaks about will happen before the great tribulation comes. But I cannot know when it will be--for what is happening now could happen for many more years. Or the Lord could come back tomorrow! ( Oh how I wish!)
But those who are out there predicting that the Lord will return on a certain day or year---they need to stop. Even God tells us it will be a like a thief in the night~ Jesus speaks about the signs of the closing age: Matthew 24: 4And Jesus answered them, "See that no one leads you astray. 5For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. 6And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
9"Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10And then many will fall away[a] and betray one another and hate one another. 11And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Yep it is a great Christian tradition to preach about being in the end times. It was started by John the revelator. He predicted that the end was near and Jesus would return before he died. Then he died.
Ever since Christians have been saying the end is just around the corner, unfortunately, they don't realize that history is just a big circle, and the corner never ends.

i am a christian with strong christian beliefs and as hard as it can be to comprehend, the people who claim the world is coming to an end as we know it, is 100% right... no one really knows the day or hour, and that's why people for hundreds of years have been strongly believing that they would live to see the world come to an end... the bible prophecies of the things that we will see before the rapture, and we are presently seeing many of those things occuring...

I hate it when Christians constantly try to scare you into believing. I've heard my whole life that the "rapture" was going to happen tomorrow, but here we still are. If it doesn't help me now, why would I even bother with it. We are a society of people who want to see immediate results, not promises(or threats) of what will happen tomorrow. Give me something besides "turn or burn".
By the way, I'm a Christian Youth Pastor at a large church.

don't think so. We have no idea when the world is gonna end. Once Jesus comes it will be a long long time after that. The Bible even says "he will come like a thief in the night". No one knows when he is coming. I think they are just using the wrong termonology for rapture. And again that isn't the end of the world.

If they try to put a date and/or time on it, then yes.
No scholar, no matter how learned, knows when the end of the world will come.
No man knows the hour in which the Lord will return.

Sadly, it seems that we have become that.
Christ stated that we would not know the hour or day of his return. Yet people have, for 2000 years, made claims about when he would return.
Christ mearly told us that we should be ready for him to come back. Meaning that we should constantly be trying to improve our relationship with God, and making sure that we are treating others fairly.
