What does it really matter to you if someone answering doesnt believe as you do?

We all have the right to our own belief system, whether another agrees with us or not.

Phoenix: We dont allow people to be anything, no matter what you say or do they are are still possibly going to be an a$$hole with a$$hole opinions. You cant change that. But...by feeding into it,ie: respond to the examples you gave, you are just giving them the fuel they were looking for in the first place and spreading the ignorance.

Nothing. People are going to believe what they believe despite someone else trying to convince them otherwise.

People on here get soooo pissed off when you speak about your viewpoint, your beliefs, etc. You don't even have to be trying to convert someone...you could be just expressing yourself, and BOOM, the hammer falls, and the next thing you know...you're the bad guy. To me, Yahoo Answers is just not worth it anymore. It's not fun anymore.

There is a marvelous book called "Why God Won't Go Away," by Andrew Newberg. It explores the neuro-biology of belief in a clear and enlightening way that has led me to believe several things: First, that human beings are predisposed to believe; Second, that a mystical union with the infinite is possible; and Third, that most beliefs are attempts to find that mystical union.

The conclusion that I have drawn is that we are all in this together, and that we should help each other and allow ourselves to be helped in the search.

Things posted by devout Christians, Muslims, Buddhists expose me to different avenues by which we approach the infinite. Atheists, in their own way, are seeking a path through life.

I am an agnostic. I don't know a great deal, and am very willing, even eager, to learn.

i am going to superstar the question because I do in reality discover it interesting, and it is worth of a celeb, yet I had a droop that you've been no longer being completely honest with me once you in trouble-free terms defined your self as a non-non secular theist in the previous :p so some distance as my tolerance of Christianity is going, no, it does no longer a lot substitute my opinion in any respect. For one aspect, i understand too a lot about the religion, and characteristic studied it too deeply. In my youthful days I heavily pondered going to Seminary and growing to be a member of the priesthood, yet after both thoroughly interpreting the bible and interpreting moral philosophy, i found the completed foundation of the religion, exceptionally the concept of hell, to be repugnant to me, and no faith that has a everlasting hell would properly be solid, and could the type of God exist that would create such an area and deliver people there then he would honestly be evil. My tolerance of Christians is determined on someone foundation. a lot how Christians are connected to the word "Hate the sin, love the sinner," I say "Hate the Christianity, love the Christian." the position the idea of God is worried, i'm nonetheless waiting for a operating definition that i trust smooth with. i'm no longer closed to the idea of God in any respect. I basically imagine that anybody has the idea incorrect.

The key is not why they do or don't, it is how they understand.
This is the key! Understanding!

I personally do not understand many things. However I may lean towards my own understanding, which can lead me to a form of ignorance. It also can lead me towards a form of Logic or Intelligence or Rationality, etc., etc., etc..

Does this understanding I have help me to help others. Maybe! Maybe not! But what it is, is my own understanding.

Now if I step outside of my own understanding and look towards another's understanding, will this enable me or disable me. For some the answer is yes! For others the answer is no!
Why?
If my answer was no, it is because I prefer my own understanding as the only way.
If my answer is yes, it is because I realized that my way is not the absolute way.

Does this make me stronger or weaker. For some it is a weakness, for others it is a strength.

The key to this whole issue is Understanding!

It is good to have a broad knowledge of opinions and points of view. It could just reinforce your own beliefs, but then it could change what you think all together.

It keeps life interesting, it adds colour to conversations and is what makes all of us unique.

Which one of us have the right or best point of view is an entirely different conversation to which im sure many opinions will be added ; )

I think everyone is entitled to there own opinion, values and believes. They do not have to be the same as mine to think they have a valid point. There are plenty of people in my life family members, friends, colleagues and neighbors who do not have the same religion etc as me and i still love and respect them. So no it does not matter to me one bit if someone asking or answering does not believe like i do.
P.S I am a Muslim.

No impact at all. Each person can type their answers in and let all who read be the judge. Nothing wrong with debate or trying to convince people to change their views. I've changed mine over the years based on argument and experience.

It doesn't matter really. If the question is asking for information, rather than opinion, then I give the answer as best I can. Of course, like most people, I prefer to express my opinion as loudly and often as I can lol.
Besides, I like to answer from different perspectives sometimes, keep people guessing.

For the most part you are right, but there are some opinions that should NOT be tolerated. Ex. blacks are inferior. Tolerance does not extend to ideas that are flat out wrong.

I think people should be "debased" and ridiculed for believing women or blacks are inferior or that all Jews must die. We are under no obligation to let people be a$$holes.

It probably wouldn't matter, so long as they cite their sources. Of course, I'm not going to ask questions such as "does god exist," in which case I would of course go with the atheists' answer. But if I asked a question such as "in which bible verse is onanism referenced?" I could care less about the religion or lack thereof of the person who answers, so long as it's correct.
