Why do some people say i should take off my headscarf?

i think its rude of people to say that a woman should remove the headscarf.its none of their business what my hair looks like.

why do people feel the need to tell someone else how to dress? my body is my business!

i wear a headscarf.not a face veil!

Quite right. Do you go around asking women with there belly button hanging out and cleavage popping out to cover up? No I'm sure you don't. Because that is there business as is you sister covering yours. They don't understand it they say its just hair etc. What harm is covering the head doing? None! Do nuns get asked to remove there's? Do Russian women who traditionally wear them get asked to remove there's? Or even some Jewish women do they get asked? No of course they don't. People like to believe we are oppressed and forced into wearing them, they don't want to accept the fact we do it through choice. I say more power to you sister, continue dressing the way you want, continue being a modest woman and if someone thinks its a crime its there problem. Peace to you.....

A lot of people do see it as a type of oppression against women.

Personally, I would NEVER go up to a woman dressed with a head scarf or the more traditional clothing and tell her she is being oppressed and needs to take it off.

You are right. It is none of their business. The women in a tradtional Catholic family I know wear a specific type of head covering during service. They get all sorts of comments about it from well meaning people - but it is their business. To them, it is important and shows their submission. If that's the same for you then wear it with pride.

Next time someone tell you that, let them know that you don't appreciate their assumptions into your life and to please leave before their intruding becomes even more offensive.

I totally agree with you. I think it's because people may be intimidated by your believes. America has declared itself not racist - yet they abide by the rulings of the Bible, Christianity, etc.

People may view your confidence as a threat and I give u credit for wearing it. It's very hard to do. I have been wearing a scarf from a younger age and people have learned to accept it. Most people think Muslims are terrorists until they have had a relationship with someone on a personal level. They have more understanding- not jsut what the media portrays and sets Islam to be. "they teach this and this" "theyre woman are opressed and are forced into sex." "its a part of our believes to reproduce millions of kids and thats y were the fastest growing religion. They simply cannot accept this fact. They make websites filled with ignorant remarks
They do not get that we are in fact more liberated and free than they will ever be. Guys do not look at us like meat.
It's wrong to publiize their sex lives, but they dont realize this.

Many non- believers are so confused

I mean look at their nuns. Their covering is almost the same as ours. But when they think of nuns they think of very religious, biost people. They look at us and we are "Extremestis and Opressed" . They need to grow up and realize the stupidity of what they have created in this society.
Naked, anorexic models are beatuful. Girls feel a need to meet a standard. It is so ridiculous and most people do not even realize it

As a Muslim Religion believes, and with respect ,Women wear, close their head, hair. Some close, cover their head like Cancer patients-,some as a Style, or surtain things included, and a theire's always a reason and a point. Their'e cases like Authority I.D, Health matters check up, you got to remove your Scarf. people wears Scarf, or vale to worsip God.Thrie're People says things just to annoy, Scarcastic, negativity, or in a possitive way you look at it , may be the Person want's you to look better with out covering. Of course they do not like to see U wearing a scarf. More over if U are a Muslim. This is because they do not like to see people who are doing right things and want others to be like them. That is the work of a Satan to always prevent, discourage, ridicule and even embarrass people who do good. The reason is because they are looking for company to be in Hell together with them.

You want to live in North America, dress the part! Nobody cares what your hair looks like. but there are some people who think that wearing a headscarf just makes you show how different you are than other people. The other reason is probably wondering why you think you need to cover your hair. Men are not going to treat you with any less repect than they do if you have it on, if you live in the West.

I have heard arguments in favor and against the wearing of head coverings in church, and I have not been convinced either way. Wear your scarf for what ever reason that you choose, and use tha opportunity to share your beliefs with others rather than being offended by those who don't understand.
