My acne has been horrible ever since seventh grade. I've tried Proactive and it didn't work (I tried using it for two months), I've tried AcneFree, and my parents finally took me to the determotoligist and he subscribed all these special (and expensive) gels and soaps which I'm supposed to use everyday. I've followed the routine and its been about one and half months since I last saw him but I STILL have HORRIBLE acne and have seemed to break out even worse on my forehead. Any suggestions on where to go from here?

Unfortunately you have done all you can at this point. Acne is mostly caused by hormones and until your hormones settle down you will have the acne. You can use the products to help reduce the appearance by keeping your skin clean and moisturized. Try a lotion like Dermalogica with oil reducing factor. There is an ingredient that absorbs the oils. Don't strip your skin using harsh ingredients that will just make the situation worse, the skin will make more oils to replace the ones taken away.

Hi,
You may think I am NUT for suggesting this, but it works SO well for me that I feel like I should share it. I use Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner (after I wash my face)..use a cotton pad to apply. When that dries (watch out it may sting your eyes, so close them while it dries) apply Milk of Magnesia as a mask. This will dry and you will feel a tightening...I leave it on all night...
AND I also apply a thin layer of it before I put on my make-up....it makes an amazing primer.
So why might this work.. I think it is because the MOM and the ACV puts your skin at an alkaline PH level..making it impossible for bacterial to exist.
The cool thing about this is MOM and ACV are easy and cheap to get a hold of.
IVE TRIED SO MANY THINGS and spent a lot of money trying to find something that works..so far this has been amazing.

Buy both Jojoba oil (pure oil, not a product containing it) and Tea Tree Essential Oil. You should be able to find both at your local natural foods store, however, if you do not have one near you, try online. Mix 2 oz. of Jojoba Oil with .25 oz. of Tea Tree.

Just before bed, wash your face with a cleanser for sensitive skin, rinse with warm water and pat dry. Immediately afterward, spread a thin layer of this serum all over your face. You can either leave as is, or pat it with a tissue to remove the excess. The next morning you will immediately see results. Continue this for a week and you'll be impressed.

Because Jojoba is the closest thing to your natural skin and Tea Tree is the most beneficial essential oil, you can use this serum as often as you like. If you want, before you put your makeup on in the a.m., splash warm water on your face, put a few drops of serum on your face, then rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Good luck!

You cna take vitamin a supplement will work very well too. It take about a month to start working but after that it starts to diapper. If your looking for a good face wash you can use clearasil ultra acne clearing scrub! that works very well also. If nothing is working at all you may want to talk to your deretologist because about a drug called accutane. It is a little dangerous. It has alot of sideffects and you need constant blood wrok and being on birth control. But it does work wonders

- good luck!

http://www.acne-advice.com/articles/get_rid_of_acne.shtml
it talks about how to get rid of it naturally i have also seen if you change your diet it can help as well eating this like rice, broccoli, or any greens, carrots any vegetables stay away form chocolates, Oliy high fat foods and don't eat too much carbs. also stay away from processed foods or frozen dinners or fast food nothing in them are actually good for you. you could also try ways of relaxing like yoga usually when i stress i break out. another thing is to not uses foundation it does'nt help at all a light bronzer or almost makeup by clinque is best it does'nt clog or hurt your skin. again look at that site and see what you find good luck with everything
and remember the real person you are is on the inside not on the outside so stay strong and happy and nothing can hurt you.
one last thing sometimes birth conroll can help with your hermones... you could try that

, (proactive) i tried everything and it helped my skin get clear.. THEY do have a gentle cleanser that isn't as harsh as the one that comes in the package.. i use that one instead of the other one, and use the toner and the combination skin cream that helps keep my face clear.
cut down on soda and greasy foods, chips, (completly if u can) do u use alot of hair products? get a bandana or silk scarf and wrap your hair away from your face at night and change your pillow case every couple days and wash your hands, your cell phone, phone (i use those sanitizing wipes)
before i used proactive i tried everything i got a facial at a salon, and bought some tea tree oil stuff from the body shop (they have a mask), etc.. its not too expensive but u can try that as well.
go to the vitamin store and get a good vitamin too for the skin. try aloe vera (the plant) they have a gel as well
good luck :)

No, Its for me too. I used ProActiv it doesnt work at all. When you go to a dermatologist there things are MUCH BETTER because its rare sure it may dry your skin for alittle but your supposed to use facewash for 6 months.... so it can clear up. No process is ever going to work quickly.
My face has cleared up alot since i have been to my dermatologist you visit them every 6 months and you use the product for 6 months then u visit the dermatologist... so its easy but make sure to get re`fills when you run out!

i too used to have really bad acne and i tried proactiv for about 6 months but it dried my skin out so bad and didn't help all that much..my dermo gave my azelex and it works soo good! my skin looks so much better and it doesnt dry your skin at all. i still get pimples occasionally but its no biggie. you just apply it twice a day. maybe they could even prescribe a pill to take at the same time and it works faster. i started birth control pills at about the same time i tried the azelex but i'm still pretty sure it was the cream that helped me most...you should really try it! it will work after about 2 months but the wait is so worth it. good luck!

Try eating healthier. You might have heard that "what you eat does not affect acne."but in my case, this is was true. What I eat greatly affects my face.Try drinking at least 6 glasses of water a day.(each glassmust be 8oz.) you will see results in about a week if your skin is so bad. Try sticking to veggies too.
Heres a recipe that is supposed to erase blemishes:
mash 2 strawberries and spread them over our face. Wait 10 minutes and wash off.

You have to attack acne where it starts, with your diet. For me, diet was the cause and solution. Topical medications fight the symptoms. Start by eliminating trans fats and eating more fruits and vegetables. Once you start cleaning up the inside of your body, by eating properly, the outside of your body (your skin) will be get cleaned up too. I started a website to document my problem and solution.

You might find it helpful to read my story. Just remember to eat an all natural/organic diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from processed foods. Use mild, all natural cleansers and don't pick at your face. Get lots of sleep and enough water for your body weight. Remember, clean body = clean skin. God Bless.
