YES YES YES! It is addictive and PLEASE don't believe the people that say it isn't. My child is hooked on pot, and I myself, was hooked on it. The psychological addiction is much worse than the physical addiction. I told myself for years that it was okay, for it was a "soft" drug. What happens there is if you have given yourself permission to smoke pot, then why not a snort of coke, which, eventually, progresses to addiction. That's what happened to me, and that is what has happened to millions of others. It doesn't have to be, though. Trying it once or twice or even after smoking it for years, you can quit. Thinking that it is not addictive is dangerous. For you, me, my kids, for anyone. The only time I feel that marijuana is okay is for people that have chronic diseases that need pot to give their appetite a boost, or to stop nausea and pain. It's prescribed to them, for them and buying it off the street makes it no different than any other illicit drug.
I think I've answered your question, I just hope you listen to me.
Good luck..

I have more than forty years of experience with cannabis, so I'm qualified to answer the question but not entirely objective. Cannabis is not physically addictive, meaning it does not cause withdrawal symptoms. On the other hand, it is a very pleasurable experience most people seek to repeat. The real issue in Amerika is the terrible legal and social consequences, if you're caught with pot. The U.S. Government is eager to ruin your life and destroy your future. That is the most significant risk, by far! If you're young -- the naivety of your question implies youth -- you should keep in mind that your personality isn't fully developed untill you're well into your twenties. Cannabis WILL affect your motivation and your interest in life. It effects your ability to remember while you're stoned and even the next day. My advice is to avoid using pot on "school nights" but to have a blast on Friday and Saturday night. Like everything in life, moderation is the best policy. Enjoy!

dude, it's just weed. lol...
Addictive in the sense that you'll have significant pysological withdrawls, no. That being said, you can become addicted and/or carried away with anything...cannabis, everquest, myspace, you name it, they all have their users and abusers.
Now, as for why there are no significant withdrawl symptoms we'll have to examine how the body's filtration (liver, etc.) works...
Whenever there is an abundance of a toxin present, the body will test it's fat soluability to see if it can store it inside fat-cells to get it out of the blood until the liver and kidneys can catch up.
THC is *very* fat soluable - which is why recipies using butter are often "modified", lol.
Now, during periods of excess consumption, THC is dumped into the fat-cells as a kind of holding tank until the levels drop low enough and then it is leached back out and processed by the liver and kidneys. Pretty darn advanced filtration system if you ask me. Who knew having some fat was actually beneficial, lol...
It is for this reason that urine based drug tests are so effective for marijuana because the fat cells hold on to it for so long and release it back into the system at such a steady and definable rate. It is also for this reason that there are no significant physical withdrawls from the drug.
Minor withdrawl symptoms are short-term memory loss (being a little ditzy) and minor cognitive issues all of which seem to have no long term, permenent effects.
---
Hope that helps...

Physically addictive, no. Psychologically addictive, yes. It makes you feel good, mellow, so you want to feel that way more and more so you smoke more and more. If you mix it with tobacco it will be both physically and psychologically addictive. Nicotine as we all know is one of the most addictive drugs out there. THC in marijuana has been proven non-addictive physically like nicotine.

Yes! I dated a guy in college who could not function without smoking pot. He smoked it from the time he woke up till he went to bed. He would even wake up in the middle of the night and get high. When he didn't have any he was unbearable to be around, and he would do ANYTHING to get it. He didn't smoke socially... he smoked because he physically needed it to function.

In breakfast, go ahead and take in orange juice. But throughout other day, focus on water as opposed to juice or soda

depends on your personality. anybody can become addicted to anything, so yes it is possible. as long as you don't smoke it all the time, you prolly won't become addicted. it's not as hard to give up as cigarrettes though-- so not as addictive as tobacco.
