I'm a French writer and would like to hear lots of stories, either funny, comical, sad, romantic even ?, dramatic etc....between landlords and tenants.
I had a landlady who used to enter in my flat while I was out.. and watch TV !!!!
or a landlord + wife who used to come in without knocking at the door and go to the 'little room' (to be polite) in the tenants apartment !!!!! , or some others would decide to come and paint the shutters very early on a Sunday morning, with no previous notice !!! that's the sort of stories I'm looking for .. let's have fun ! MERCI

I knew someone rented out a house. When it came time to leave, the people did, leaving tonnes of personal belongings behind.
The makings for quite a jumble sale was there.
All donated to charities.

My Dad is a private landlord and the last people he rented one of his houses out to were Vietnamese drug dealers lol, they never paid their rent so my Dad issued them a notice of eviction and they had to find alternative accommadation within 2 months, after no reply he went round to the house, he went inside and they had disconnected the electricity meter so they didn't pay for the electricity they used and had tinfoil all up the wallsto reflect the light and loads of tube lighting in every room except one where they lived and slept (5 of them in one room because the other four rooms were filled with weed plants. Anyway they had gone at this point there were just empty bags of fertiliser and a few Cannabis leaves on the floor.

I had a landlord who let his tenants who were behind on the rent "work" it off by doing repairs on his various properties. Anyway, this real genius decides to fix a sewage leak under my house by taking a vegetable can out of MY garbage and cutting the other end off, and sliced it in half so he could put it put it on the pie and the he used duct tape to hold the can & pipe in place. about 1 week later, there was 6 inches of raw sewage under my home & we were all sick from the fumes. We told him about it and he refused to RE-FIX the problem so we refused to pay rent until it was fixed. We wound up being evicted but I don't care. If I never see him again it will be too soon!

As a student I live in many places, my favourite landlord was a lovely guy, a farmer, who used to come and leave sacks of veg for us every so often! He was a real sweetheart.
Another place had such bad damp all my clothes went mouldy and the plaster started to fall off the wall! How I wished I'd been able to stick with the room I rented from the farmer!

As a favor I rented my mother-in law apartment to a couple of softball players for 8 weeks in the summer. Separate entrance, separate bathroom, no kitchen and it was furnished. I had decorated it with a small sailboat on a small out of the way shelf on the wall.

My tenant's literaly threw the boat and shelf out the back door into the yard and then ripped out my flowering hydrangea bush and other foliage.... not because of allergies just aesthetics.

I was up set.... and too nice.... I told my friend the coach and he asked if I wanted him to buy me another plant I said no and I ended up paying the girl to paint my room for $200. Oh boy! I was such a dope.... always too nice.

If you like this one I have better ones... let me know!

My daughter left home and shared a house a group of free thinking teenagers, (all separate rooms) with shared living /kitchen/bathroom facilities. As the months passed, so the tenants changed,- to a bunch of drunk ne'er do-wells.
They re-opened the fireplace and burned all the furniture and fittings to keep warm for free (including kitchen cupboards). Dad to the rescue.

Here in America we have laws about that stuff, but they often aren't followed. So we moved into this duplex and the property mgr kept telling us that none of her staff would ever enter w/out notice. So a week after we moved in we came home and there was some guys there replacing our windows, hired by our property mgr. To beat it all, she had given them a key too.

Good luck

I had 2 landlords (men) who lived in the lap of luxury while the tenants froze in the wintertime due to no central heating (usual stuff) They did however put the rent up Christmas week, greedy buggers.

I had a landlord who'd hike my rent by sms. He also had the water heater and cooker by-pass the meters. On top of all this, my rent included a guest-wing which housed his cousins who were soon moving out. One year later, they were still moving.
I was too busy to house hunt but I finally did.

I had a landlady once who knew things that happened in my apartment that she could only have known if there was a camera hidden in there somewhere; and she had the nerve to openly discuss situations with me. Example: she told me once that I shouldn't climb up on the counter top to reach things in the upper cabinets because I could fall and hurt myself. I moved.
