Ok. I have 2 kittens both are 10 weeks old, and siblings. Last night when I came home from work I noticed one was in bed still when I came to play with them. Usually they both get up excited, but she just looked at me and meowed. My boyfriend, who lives with me, said that when he got home she was in her bed and didn't play even then, much earlier in the day. I stood her up because he said she wasn't walking right. She wouldn't put any weight on her right leg and she pullled it upwards, so I immediately thought it was broken. I compared both legs, and she was fine with me touching, until it came to the ankle joint, then she meowed a little. No bones were visibly damaged. (and I know I'm not a vet) When I hold her up her right leg is limp, and when she walks she pulls it up. She just goes from her bed to her food, or to play, but sitting down. Has anybody had this happen? I do not need to hear about how I should ask a vet, because right now I am not in the position to do so.No mean comts

He beleives that it is just sprained, and that she got up on something she wasn't supposed to and fell, or got her foot caught. Shes not crying, unless you touch it or she puts to much weight on it. Shes eating and using the litter, with praise.

I rarely go to a doctor, just to make that clear. You don't need to be rich to have an animal, thank you. I wanted advice from someone who had been in the SAME situation. She's not acting like shes in pain. She just babies it. Again this just occurred last night. This morning I had to leave for work, but she seemed a bit more cheery. I wanted to know what type of self help I could provide in house. Just as I would for myself. Doctors charge to much around here. I took my older cat to the vet and she had a bump on her head. They charged us $700 to poke a little hole and let it drain on its own! And that didnt even include anesthesia or meds.Anyone could have done that!So I'd rather try to help her out the best I can before searching for outside help.

I had almost the same situation. My 3 month old kitty (at the time) tried to jump onto the counter and hurt his leg. At first my fiance and I didn't want to take him to the vet, because it does cost a lot of money. Cupid babied his leg a lot, didn't put any pressure on it and his leg looked normal. Finally it got to the point where we had to take him to the vet. He wound up breaking his leg just above the ankle. All I can say is make her as comfortable as possible. Try not to force her to walk on her leg if she doesn't want to. In a week if she is still babying it, then yes I would take her to the vet because something could seriously be wrong with her ankle. I know how expensive it is to go. I have something called "Care Credit" through my vet. Talk to your vet about this, they may end up having this program as well. if they do sign up for it, it really really helps with paying off vet bills.

sounds like someone or something fell on her or maybe was under a rocker or recliner and maybe got injured. you can always call the emergency vet and explain what happened and ask what you can do that u have no funds. any one with a heart will give you free advice to at least make her comfortable. some vets will accept payments. her ankle is maybe cracked since she is holding it up and you say it is limp. try some self help Do you have an ace bandage. make sure its not to tight to shut off ciculation. ask the vet if he would recommend this.try it for a few days if no better and its broken the bone will not heal right and in cold weather this injury will always cause her pain. check out some on line vets they will usually help answer questions and also animal control because they are always picking up injured animals and if savable they help them its worth asking them and also humane society

Animals are good at hiding pain. Since she is limping says there is something very bad wrong. Take her to a vet.
Not to pick on your boyfriend but did he "accidentally" do something and not tell you about it? It does happen!! Does he have an abusive/controlling side to him. Is he just telling you what you want to hear? Doesn't mean it is the truth. Only you know, deep down inside the answers. If he does, you should not have any animals in this house with him around. Give them up to a rescue group in your area.
I can't help but wonder what could a kitten do to hurt it's leg that bad?

It's hard to tell exactly what is wrong with it without the vet checking out the joint and/or xraying it. Usually, just by the doctor feeling he can tell if it's a joint problem, a sprain, dislocation. Sometimes it does require a xray though. But if she's in pain, there's obviously something wrong.
Perhaps you can see if there is a humane society or animals shelter by you that would be able to help out? Or perhaps the vet would be willing to take payments if you spoke to them in advance. In any case, the kitten probably needs medical assistance.
Prayers to you and the kitten

i'd definitely take her to the vet. for many animals, exhibiting discomfort is a demonstration of vulnerability, even in youthful kittens... So whether it does not seem to subject her, she could be in discomfort. And if it bleeds, meaning that that's liable to an infection, which might deliver approximately issues. Having the bone uncovered is a clarification for difficulty!!! Kudos for taking in a three legged cat nonetheless and being prepared to take it to a vet. it would be sturdy to a minimum of get the kitten in for a checkup, the place you are able to ask the vet approximately it.

OK, no mean comments. But yes, you should ask a vet to check it. It won't cost all that much and your kitty could have an infection or a nerve problem that could cost it the use of her leg. She could also have a toenail infection. Cats don't show when they are sick.
And if you really can't afford a vet, call the local animal shelter and ask if they offer any financial help.
And then ask yourself, why do I have these kittens if I can't afford a vet? When you take that responsibility, then you take the responsibility of getting them medical care when they need it...and you could face legal problems if they need care and you don't get it for them.

Well, I have trouble believing it cost you $700 to have an abcess drained and no just anybody can not do it. I recently had the same procedure done and paid $65. I too wonder about how this happened. And I believe you can take it to the vet and just need to adjust your priorities. And I'm really trying to be nice but for gods sake if you are not going to take care of these cats than find them a better home. If your not in a position to care for them then why did you put yourself in the position of owning them? I live on $655.04 gov. disability because of my spine and my animals all have whatever they need. I will go without myself for them and get real sick of hearing others complain how they can't afford to take care of theirs. It's just bullshit! And very selfish.

Not to be mean, but why do you have a pet if you cannot adequately care for it? If you had a child limping and in pain would you wait for the next pay check to take the child to the doctor? The cat is in pain and needs to see a vet.

perhaps if you still notice a limp and pain reaction it would be best to play it safe an take her to the vet what harm can it do her to at least be seen to.
oh and when your precious babies get to 3 months please have them spayed it makes for happier healthier pets and added to this bonus, no unwanted kittens and you will be saving lives and preventing suffering.

your best bet is to have a vet that goes by weight look at her ankle, it could be cracked or bruised, but you should find a vet that goes by weight, wont cost much at all. hope she gets better, take care!
