My bf is leaving for the Army we have been together 5 years and have been through a lot like the death of his parents. We got together when we were 16 or so, young yes i know! we really have never experienced anyone else or other siutations with out the other one being there. He said that when he leaves that it would probably be easier to just be friends because he doesn't want me to worry about him, which is going to happen either way, and he does not want to worry about me cheating on him (not that i ever have).WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF THIS? I know the saying if you love something let it go and if it comes back then it's true, which im my opinion is stupid, if you love your car and worked really hard to get it and take care of it would you give it away? Also whats suppose to happen Friday with the vote about the troops are they going to send more? Any similar siutations and adivise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

He's probably avoiding being freaked out the entire time that he's gone wondering if you're cheating on him....and he's right. That's usually how it goes.

Sounds like he's being a soldier. Respect his wishes. Don't compare human beings going to war to a car.

i know exactly what he means. he's doing it to protect himself. pose this question to him: when you do go away and we are just friends and i have sex with someone else, and when you come back and we get back together, will it hurt any less even though yuo didnt technically anything wrong
