It's only natural that you would feel sleepy etc. But I find that exercise or activity will help. Don't let your self become a couch potato get up and out. Find something to do that requires your moving around.

I suffer from the same problem. Are you sleeping too much or too long? I've found this to be my problem. Get on a normal sleep cycle where you wake up at the same time each day. Make sure you're getting a full 8 hours of sleep, no more, no less. Also, my doctor told me it helps to take a walk or get some exercise. This will help get the level of seratonin (a natural feel good) more high. I hope you feel better. Take care.

If your sleepiness is due to your meds, you may need to go to bed earlier so you are asleep longer and they will wear off by the time you wake up. Also, I tend to be more depressed in the winter time (Seasonal Affective Disorder SAD), because of the lack of sunlight (shorter days, clouds, etc) and cold days. They have lights youcan buy that simulate natural sunlight to give you the amount of natural light your body requires (vitamin D). You may want to speak with your dr about it- he could change your eds to something that would work as well but with less morning sedation. Also caffeine is not great, it makes you sleepier after it wears off (bounce-back affect). I drink like 10 cans of mountain dew a day and i know it is bad, but it's hard to kick the habit. Good luck.

Sounds like you could be suffering from S.A.D seasonal affective disorder. As for the sleep problem i suggest you take yourself either back to your Dr & tell him or go out for walks as soon as you get up.With my depression my body feels too tired to even get off the sofa but i force myself & go out to see friends,i have done this now for several weeks & the tiredness is gradually going away, also i found the pills i was on made me tired so my Dr lowered the dose a little.I am now quite alert during the day & sleep better at night. My psychiatrist changed my medication several times until he found the one that suited me the best.

It's very probable that you have a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder. My family is prone to it.
The tanning solution was the orginal treatment, but to get benefit from it, you need to do it at least three times a week! My cousin used that solution and she looked like a raisin. It's now been switched to Light Therapy.

Other treatments include: Melatonin, Essential Fatty Acids, St. John's Wort, and other natural remedies. Those might be in conflict with your antidepressants, esp. St. John's, but if it's SAD, you might not need 'em anyway!
