Being Christian does not make you immune to life, you will still go through the same trials and tribulations as anyone else, regardless of religion/lack of, on the planet.
You need to figure out why you are depressed. All to often people get on a med they don't need in the first place. Talk to you Pastor/Preacher/Reverend, whatever name you use. If this is uncomfortable to you then look into a local mental health clinic. They tend to align the cost with your income level.
And at all times pray. Pray for help, pray for an answer, and pray for release from the depression.
Hope this helps in some small way.

I am a Christian.

Yes.

I have suffered severly from depression in the past. Still have boughts of depression from time to time. In fact had mild thoughts of suicide this morning. I was thinking I probably should go see someone and get back on an antidepressant.

Depression can have a SPIRITUAL source, a EXPERENTIAL souce, and a PHYSICAL source. Depression can be a result of one of these, all of these, or a combination of any.

Spiritual, don't have Christ in life, demons attacking you

Experential, death in family, house burn down, breakup, etc

Physical, chemical imbalance

Absolutely. Being a Christian doesn't mean you are automatically immune to being depressed! You are only human. Everyone has ups and downs no matter what their religion is. At least you know that you feel this way and you can do something about it like getting help from a psychologist.

Absolutely. A lot of things can happen to Christians that cause them to act a certain way. Martyn-Lloyd Jones wrote on this issue in a book called Spiritual Depression.

If you are going through depression let me recommend a counselor in your area with this group: https://www.nanc.org/directory.asp?sortby=l_name&sub=5

They are very willing to help anyone and most charge nothing.

To say no would be to imply that Christians are not human. Of course they can become depressed. Sometimes life can be so hard that nothing seems to help. I think the footprints poem address depression as well as many other things. Depression can make you feel so alone. Remember, "...when there were only one set of footprints, it was then that He carried you."

Of course. Just seek help from someone you trust talking to. Maybe go to therapy. There are so many things in life that will bring you down. Just trust GOD is there. Talk to GOD like HE's in the room with you. Talk right into the thin air. He'll listen, and if nothing else at least fill you with some peace. But if you need answers to your problems talk to someone about it. If you trust GOD he'll find a way to get you the help you need. ANd yah it's o.k. to get depressed. Just don't dwell on your problems. Find ways to help cope with them. Problems never go away but you can make life easier to deal with.

The answer is Yes.
Depression is sometimes caused by a chemical imbalance.
That can happen to anyone.
Depression is sometimes the result of a series of negative events.
For anyone trying to be a real christian in todays world, its nothing but a series of negative events.
That's why Jesus urged all to endure.

The roots of depression ,You forgot the Hope of the Lords return. and being thankful for all you have. I not trying to sound mean , it's the truth. The outcome is selfishness. The more you focus on you,the less you give to God and others.I went though this for 2yrs. w/ 6kids and a drunk husband. I had poor me, all about me.Focus on blessing others. I don't like watering down the truth. Praying for you. GOD BLESS
