That's an ice-breaker question to see what you will include, supposedly a warmup type of thing. This is where you introduce yourself before the job-related questions begin.

I would suggest that you write down your answer to this question. It should take no more than 30 seconds to answer it.

In my Business Communication class, i had an eye opening experience on Job interviews.

-Cut the crap about how u became a new dad, moved house, the size of ur family etc..bcoz u might raise red flags about your future performance in the organization in question.Eg;talking about ur children might show prospects of frequent absence for PTA,sick kids, unless u want to show ur hands-on ability for a day-care job. Simply start telling ur name, age, and qualifications and experience relevant to the post u're being interviewed for. This will keep them interested to interview you along the same line, rather than having to answer why and why on things they find not in the interest of the organization, and they could turn this back on you. Avoiding a stressful start, opens the door for more confidence.

You tell him about your self.
Starting with who you are and what you stand for. It depends on why your being interviewed. If it's for something you did or are going to do. Don't fall into a trap if they ask you questions that might hurt your image or will work against you in the future.
Think before you answer any questions.

Ask him,"WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW"
Thats because you just can't blabber your life story to him. In any case if you are a fresher stress more on your education. Keep just one or two sentences for your family. If experience then 80% on your previous jobs,15% on education and rest on family.

Just tell them about your background a little bit, such as education, past employment, and your strengths and weaknesses, what your goals and accompolishments are and such. Ive never really answered that question well in my opinion, but ive always had a good interview aside from that.

they expect your positive points ( that is your strength) and are you ready to reveal your negative points also ( in future that can be corrected ) so be frank do not hide.
they will generally ask will you quit the job if some one else offer you more pay. what will be your answer. so be positive in your approach ( you must tell that money is not alone the criteria i will look into my future prospects also i.e if the company is ready to uplift me recognising my ability that i will wait until the opportunity comes i will grow along with the company

Honesty is the best policy but that doesn't mean you go tell them everything. LOL.

Tell them about your hobbies, education, achievements, qualifcations, what you've learnt form school etc. Keep it positive. But don't overdo the praising yourself.
