I'm sick of forgetting the key to my room at school or in my pocketbook in my room. I've had to climb through my windows more than a few times, or have to bye a new key because I've misplaced mine. I've tried the paperclip method b4, but I can't seem to get it. Is there some sort of trick to it?

It depend's on which lock you have, if u have the one with the little hole in it u can use a hanger.But if its a diff one than use ur nail or somthin

Paper clip method doesn't work except for TV and Movies.
Make a necklace incorporating a spare key, never take it off, and if you misplace your regular key, you will still be wearing the other one

I bought a very small clip for my room key that clips to my mp3 player (or cell phone, whatever you always have.)
Since then, I don't have to wait for my room mate to come home.

if there's no guard in front of the door, then you can slide a credit card or mobile phone top up card and slide it down the side of the door and it will open the lock.

Carry a spare like they've already mentioned in your wallet, chain, etc. Just don't hide one near your door cause someone will surly find it!
