Folks answering by quoting the fourth commandment don't fully understand that, under the New Covenant brought by Jesus Christ (as prophesied at Jeremiah 31:31-34), we are FREED FROM THE LAW (Romans 7). Even if the law still applied, they seem to overlook the fact that the fourth commandment didn't compel the Jews to worship as a congregation. Other laws required Jewish corporate worship on High Holy days only, such as the Day of Atonement. The Sabbath is not one of these days -- the Jews were commanded to STAY HOME and do no work, including travel.

However, passages such as Hebrews 10:24-25 require New Covenant believers to worship in a congregation. There is no set day of the week we are to worship; in fact, we are instructed to worship God at all times, no matter where we are (John 4:21-24).

There is no passage in the bible that speaks of Sunday as being the day to go to worship. There is mention of taking the seventh day off, which for Christians is Sunday. The bible does ask us to fellowship with one another, encourage, worship and pray. Because most people are not working on a Sunday, it's the best time to do this. Also,' People' must not go, but Christians should want to go because it keeps them strong in their faith. My church has WEd. night services as well. I'm not sure what Job 3:16 has to do with it (someone gave that answer.)

it doesn't, because you're not required to. Put it like this, if you come donw with an illness that puts you in bed, you couldn't go to church, but does that stop you from being a child of God, no it doesn't. Religion tells you to be to service every Sunday, but I'll have you to know, there are some who sit in church service and sleep, write note, play, and come to see others. Did they go for the right reason, No! Did it fool people outside of their church hom and made them look like super saints, Yes! If some people would get off of religion and grab a hold of God they wouldn't think the way they do. I love God, I'm a christian, but guess what I don't have to be in the doors everytime they open. And can still worship God in my car, in my closet, in the tub. That's what He wants, a heart. HE CAN CARELESS IF YOU SHOW UP ON SUNDAY AND LEAVE THE SAME WAY YOU CAME. NOONE WHO CAME TO CHRIST LEFT THE SAME. tHEY WERE EITHER HEALED, DELIVERED, RESTORED, LOVED, etc. But when you come, come with a heart to help others, to receive love, to give love. tHAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. Church people have taken the church and put God in the corner. They go to be seen and things that doesn't glorify God. I sure wish the church as a whole, as a body will wake up.

There isn't an actual scripture that says you must go to church every Sunday, but at Heb. 10: 24 & 25 we are encouraged to meet together....."Let us consider one another to incite to love an fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as we behold the day drawing near."

Forget not the assembling of yourselves together especially as the last days approach. If you are sick or have to to work that is another matter. Jesus healed on the Sabbath and sanctioned pulling an animal out of the ditch but not every other Sunday.

Not specifically, but it does say to meet together. Sunday is just a conveniently traditional day.

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25

It isn't. There is a passage that says not to "forsake the gathering of yourselves together" which can be fulfilled through church. But church is not the only way to fulfill this command. Just getting together with Christian friends and being able to uplift each other's faith...is fulfillment of this command. In fact, that is probably more fitting than using church as your social club to snub those who don't agree with you, and clique with those who do.

Nowhere....Jesus did not have a church, he spoke his word wherever he stood. Churches were made by man, and so was religion. No need to be in church on Sunday and stab everybody in the back for the rest of the week.
