I dont get why anyone could not be tolerant of anyone elses religion and why would someone try to change peoples religion. That isnt being tolerant. YOu bring up a great point. I would rather be spiritual more then religious.

Tolerance is fine, as long as what you're tolerating doesn't go against God's will. I can never tolerate sin, and if the issue being discussed is a sin, I can't tolerate it and say, "well, that's ok, the Bible was written a long time ago and its morals don't apply now."
Its morals do apply, the moral law doesn't change bc God's character doesn't change. There are some differences that I can and should tolerate to prevent dissension, however, other things I can't bc they go against God's will.

Christians are not supposed to tolerate evil and wrong doctrine. Tolerance is viewed as a compromise to one's beliefs which is a sin in the eyes of many. America was founded on tolerance of all religions, not Christianity

I think you can be tolerant and still disagree, or have open discussions on the topics...but you hit the most important part here.
Tolerance means disagreeing respectfully.

Because as has been stated many times before (sad to say)
A whole lot of questions/replies are meant to get a reaction or they are just the expressions of a very immature undereducated person.

Tolerate everything? That is nuts. We all have a line of what we tolerate and what we do not. It is to your benefit to define where that line is. For me, faith is intolerable, because it is the road to death, it is the road to ineffectiveness which leads to helplessness, which leads to death ultimately. If death is your goal, than be intolerant of reason and the life that springs from effective living.

Tolerance stands for endurance or allowing pain to inflict. I can accept your being different from me but I cannot tolerate the difference if it is going to hurt me. If tolerance can be used as allowing each other the right to do his own business, I might buy it but I will not allow your business to hurt mine.

When one asks me to tolerate a Bronze Age view of the world I find it to be intolerable.
