I asked this in the Marriage section and everyone said-just take the pastries and say thank you and explain to him nicely that this stuff makes you sick.

I have a painful disease that has caused me to gain weight and I am supposed to stay away from bad foods that irritate the disease (-sugar, dairy, chocolate, processed) so what does my husband buy me for V-day? (and B-day, and Xmas)-yup, bad food. Then when I get upset he says it was a special day. Except he buys it all the time.

Monday he bought cookies and candy because I was going on a business trip and might need energy.

Saturday night he asked me out for "date night" and took me to pizza. Its always something. He is quite overweight BTW.

Anyway, the way he couches these "gifts" it makes me feel like a jerk.

This morning when he presented me with a card and a huge box of pastries I said "Please don't do this to me" and he started yelling and said "No You don't do this to me!"

Gosh, this is a tough one. He doesn't seem to be listening to you at all. It sounds like you have explained to him the situation and that he knows about your disease and yet he is sabotaging your efforts to stay away from the bad food.
When you receive it do you eat it? If you do, then he probably thinks that deep down you do want these items and your saying no is just lip service. If you don't eat, then I don't understand him.
Also he has a weight problem too so this contributes to the situation also. He likes this food too and HE probably wants it.
I guess I would just take it, leave it on the counter, have the will power to not eat it and either let him stuff his face or throw it away in a few days. Better to waste food than hurt yourself.

Maybe Because He Is Overweight He Is Insecure About Himself And If You Eat All This Healthy Food You Will Start Looking Good And That Will Make Him Feel Worse About Himself.Make Him A Part By Saying You Want Both Of You To Be Healthy And Eat Better. If That Doesnt Work See A Marriage Counselor Since It Seems That He Has Issues That Have Nothing To Do With Your Illness. Good Luck

You mentioned that he is overweight.... sounds like you are not and he wants to get you that way. Also sounds like he has some issues if he continually tries to force things on you that will make you ill. That's NOT love now is it?

your not crazy . you should suggest some things that he could give you as presents . see how the constuctive route works i think if you give him a good long list of things that he could buy you and they are of all different costs he might have more success.

If you have told him over and over all I can say is Save Yourself. HE is making you feel crazy.

Why is he giving you poison?

Is he stupid? No he just ignores what you say and does what he wants and so all you can do is know that you are not crazy and he is unbelievably inconsiderate.

Give hints, in advance, as to what you would appreciate for special occasions. Beat him to the suggestions re. 'date nights', etc.
