If i am going to drink a beer or glass of wine or a mixed drink, or a shot ..which would have fewer carbs, calories and all of that stuff that makes you chubby? i have read conflicting points of view on this. I wanna get drunk but i dont want a fat butt

Im thinking a shot is the smallest so it would be the least fattening

Hunny, don't worry about it. You are not going to get fat by getting drunk ocassionaly.

Maybe if you drink every day and drink too excessively then you might get chubby, but just doing it every once in awhile is not going to get you fat.

Beer has the nutritional information right there on the side of the can or case, so it's easy to read how many carbs and calories and fat is in beer. (go with light beer, it has less calories and fat).

Wine and hard liquor on the other hand do not have the nutritional information on the label.

I would say if you are having a mixed drink, then mix it with DIET soda and that will greatly reduce the calories.

Cheers and have fun drinking, hun!
Happy Valentine's Day *hugs*

Stick to red wine.

Beer generally has the most calories and because it also has the least alcohol, you may end up drinking more of it to "get drunk."

Mixed drinks can have skyrocketing caloric values, and if you end up getting weak drinks with something sugary like coke, you might end up drinking a 2 liter bottle of coke before you feel drunk and even then, it's probably sugar shock you're feeling.

A shot is deceptive. A straight shot of whiskey/rum/tequila/gin/vodka has about three times the calories as wine. Of course, it has about three times the alcohol as well, so maybe it works out if you can pace yourself. I think once you start with the shots, you risk drinking a lot very fast and not realizing how drunk you are until your judgment is impaired and you end up drinking more. If you go with shots, you will likely drink more calories and alcohol than if you stick with the wine.

Alcohol has no protein, no fat and only a trace of carbohydrates. Why, then, are alcoholic beverages so high in calories?

A. The alcoholic beverages most familiar to us are either grain-based (whiskey, vodka, beer, etc.) or fruit-based (wine, brandy, etc.). Ethyl alcohol - the type found in such beverages - is produced through the fermentation of sugar by yeast. Fruits are high in sugar content, while grains are high in starch, which, when cereals are used, first must be converted to sugar. Alcohol, according to the Columbia Encyclopedia of Nutrition, offers "little nutritional value outside of its energy content and is simply another form of empty calories."

The actual caloric content of a beverage, notes Corinne T. Netzer in her Dieter's Calorie Counter, depends on the alcoholic content.

-A 12-ounce bottle of Budweiser beer contains about 144 calories, according to Netzer's book, while the same size bottle of Budweiser light beer has about 108-125 calories.

-Distilled liquors - whiskey, gin, rum, vodka, etc., - range from about 65 calories in an ounce of 86 proof to 74 calories per ounce of 90 proof (and a little less for 80 proof)

I think all alcohol in general is loaded with calories - look at gossip mags, they always have photos of celebrities that look bloated and like they have gained weight after they've been on benders of days.

If your serious, i think spirits are best and a diet mixer. Also don't go get junk food on the way home, and do some excercise!

Shots generally have tons of sugar in them, ie: Jager, Rumplemintz, Washington Apples. Your best bet would be to drink a vodka and soda. Don't drink tonic, it has a lot of calories. Club soda is just carbonated water and tastes good with vodka.

You're right. And if you have Everclear where you are, it will give you the most alcohol per calorie. Just remember that it doesn't get you drunk only twice as fast as regular hard alcohol, it gets you drunk like 4 times faster, because you're drinking twice the alcohol twice as fast.

And don't drive!

Tequila keeps me in good shape... I will have Casa Noble Crystal Tequila with a chaser of watter or maybe sometimes Diet Coke.

Casa Noble Crystal
"Many purists believe that tequila is best when it is NOT aged. We feel it is just a matter of taste. But for those who want the best "silver" we created Casa Noble Crystal. We call it Crystal because we believe it is superior to all silver tequilas. It's in a class by itself. Contained in a beautiful hand blown glass decanter, adorned with an exquisite metal engraved label, Casa Noble Crystal has absolutely no rival in this category, and it lets you appreciate the exceptional pureness and glow of this unique tequila."
