I have started a webpage for Unicef and I am looking for ideas to get donations. If anyone has donated before, why have you done it and what are some reasons you would do it again. My webpage is www.unicefusa.org /totonline /kevmo1977 no spaces though, i had to put the spaces or they deleted the address.
Give it a look and maybe suggest an idea to me. I am not asking for a donation, i don't think that would be allowed on here, but i can't stop you if you do.

Good luck in your charitable endeavor. Here are the charities to which I donate money. My favorite charity is the East Asian Institute started by Greg Mortenson. He works with community resources building schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan, one school at a time. He only insists that girls be able to attend the schools because girls are more likely to stay in the community and pass on their knowledge.

Parade Magazine featured Greg’s story on the cover under the title “What We Can Learn from a Man Who Fights Terror and Builds Nations One School at a Time.” The week after that story ran the East Asia Institute received $1 million in unsolicited donations from all across the political spectrum, and from all across the faith community: Muslims, Jews, Christians, everybody. This story carried such a powerful message of hope—that one person can make a difference, that bad situations can change, that most people want many of the same things for their families. It reminds us that education can change societies from within. And it reminds us that stories and narratives are powerful tools for bringing people together and getting things done. Greg gets more done with less money than anyother charity I know. He also convinced hospitals and doctors to donate old equipment and convinced western doctors to train locale doctors how to do cataract surgery. Cataracts are endemic at high altitudes in Asia.

I also give generously to my church because of what the church does in the community.

So I would suggest that your develop a narrative about UNICEF and what the organization accomplishes and how they keep their overhead low. One of the reasons I love East Asian Institute is that they accomplish with such little money.

I contribute through payroll deduction, first to the American Red Cross, because I have worked for them in the past, and because of the work they did here in Southern California during the horrible fires we had a few years ago. I also give to the Child Welfare Fund we have in our school district where I work, because it directly effects the students I work with, getting them dental work and eye glasses, even shoes. I also give my discards to the Cancer Federation's thrift store because my father died of cancer last year. I give to the charities that directly effect my life.
