My hubby and I are going to a monster truck show on Saturday and I am really excited... The thing is that I have never been to one so I don't know what to expect, and my hubby really wants to take our 2 1/2 year old son with us.... The show is in an indoor areana, and it will be an hour from home.... My question is, is it ok to take him or is he too young?? I know we'd have to buy him ear plugs before we go, but if it IS ok,then what else should I know before taking him with.. It will start at like 7-8 pm....
Another question... I am 6 months pregnant... is is safe for me to go??? I am assuming there will be a lot of smoke and dust, and that is why I am wondering about me and our son going.... Please give advice and opinions!!!!!
Also what should I expect.. my husband says that there are going to be cars races, and monster trucks and dirt bikes.....
The only reason we are gong is because he won tickets......

My husband has been taking our grandsons to the monster truck shows since they were about your son's age and they loved it, still do (must be a guy thing).
We bought ear covers that look like headsets, over the head and large insulated things that cover the entire ear. We also used face masks, like the painters masks except these are for allergies etc.
As long as you explain to your toddler each day that he will be going to see trucks and cars that are LOUD--making car and truck noises and explaining loud to him he shouldn't be frightened of what little noise comes through the ear coverings.
I suggest a face mask for you as well, there is a lot of dust and it is better to be careful. The mask may help with the odors that could make you nauseous.
One problem we found the last time the kiddos went were stinging eyes. Their pediatrician suggested bringing along plain saline for this.
Even though I don't understand the attraction for these events, my husband and grandsons look forward to attending each year. I
Have fun!

Does your son like loud noises, vaccums, car engines, dogs barking? If no, or if noises startle or scare him, this may not be for him. But if noise doesn't bother him, he could enjoy it. Ear Plugs are a must! Be sure you tell him what to expect, and how he will have to wear the ear plugs the whole time.
If you go, the smoke may bother you. the Vibrations from the noise could be cool for the baby. But if you don't like noise, and sitting in hard arena chairs for hours, don't subject yourself to it. the baby is a faboulus excuse!
If you do go, make a deal with your husband that if either you or the little guy get sick of it, you can leave. No arguments, no whining, just leave.
Hope it goes well!

fI went to one of those when my oldest son was 2 and he loved it. I as well was around 5 or 6 months pregnant at that time when we went. Everything was perfectly fine. We watched exactlly what you said, Dirt bike, monster trucks and car races. It was fun and exciting for my son , but very very loud. So yeah the ear plugs are a good idea. . Have fun!

It's fine to take your son! I took my daughter when she was 2. But since he's so small your going to want to go by Wal-Mart or some where and buy him some ear muff's not ear plugs. His ears are to small and the ear plugs would not work correctly. They have them in the hunting section at Wal-Mart just make sure you get the highest decibel ones that you can find.
As for you I don't see it being a problem either. But since your senses are stronger when your pregnant I get some ear plugs for you to.
Its pretty cool really the big trucks run over little cars and stuff. Some of them race over the cars. Most of the time if you get there early you can meet the truck drivers and that would be cool for your son. Your husbands right on about what's going to be going on. Just go and have fun I'm sure your little boy will love it!!!

Definetly get the ear plugs for the little one. I'm sure he will love it. As for the dust and smoke that will be there, I don't believe that it would hurt the baby or your son, but if you are really concerned about it buy some of those little masks that you use when painting to cover your nose and mouth. This should cut down immensely on the amount of dust and smoke that you inhale.
Have fun!

I wouldn't take my 2 1/2 year old to something like that. It is too loud and I don't think they would have much fun. Also, you DO NOT need to go. Your baby can hear now and the trucks would be way too loud for your baby. I know a lady that was pregnant and she went to something like that and now her child has a hard time hearing and is really scared of loud noises. Be safe and don't go.

I would not take my 2 1/2 year old. Also with you being pregnant I would make sure I did not sit that close to the ring and I would wear a face mask because of the dirt

kids love everything at 2 years old i think it is ok as long as you protect his ear on too much excessive noise and dont forget to take a damp towellet to clean your son face as it clean and cools him down.as you are being pregnant i dont see any harm in your way as most of the arena or stadium they are big enough and some where open.monster trucks are excellent its fun watching it smashing cars all the way with the dirt bikes its fun to see all the tricksdone by this proffessional bikies and this smash derbies is fun to watch demolishing each other ;;;;ENJOY THE SHOW

I only have one or two things to add- when all the others say it will be loud- They mean it will be LOUD! Very, very LOUD!!! And you little one will probably freakout without some ear protection but after the first few loud one's he should adjust fine! You may want to bring his car seat in with you or his stroller so you won't have to carry him the whole time and a few toys in case he doesn't really get into it that much! Have Fun!

IT will probably scare your son because it is very loud. I personally don't like it and would stay home and let hubby go, but if you are into that sort of thing, it won't hurt for you to go. I'd get a sitter for the toddler because he's not going to sit still, the noise will frighten him and he's going to get tired and cranky after the first 30 minutes and then you will have to deal with him.
