I haven't noticed this. What I have noticed, however, is that I can't find green bananas anywhere!! I like to buy them when they're about 3/4 ripe, and let them ripen on the banana stand at home. For some reason (for the last couple months) every single time I go grocery shopping (to all different stores--not just my regular Kroger) they're always completely ripe to the point of getting spots. No green at all. None. Because of this, I have to buy one or two at a time, and go shopping every few days. It's really annoying!

Bananas need a steady temperature of over 60 degrees and In the winter the banana's don't get that, so they ripen differently and that will cause the bananas to be a little more difficult to peel nothing to worry about .

I experience this off and on, and I don't like a mushy-topped banana! So, I try it once, if it doesn't easily peel, I slice it open.
I would love to know what makes one bunch of bananas harder to get into than another bunch!

Bananas that are grown during a colder season naturally create a thicker peel. Which makes them harder to open.

yes I have! I remember being little and just a little tug on the stem, in any direction, would peel it. Now it seems I have to cut the top or at least dig into it with my fingernail. Not sure why.

If I had to cut a banana with scissors to open it, I would most certainly not eat it. Maybe you should lay off them.

Maybe they aren't ripe, but then again I wait till the skin is just barely specked with brown dots. they are easy to peal then. I cant stand banannas before they get to that point, too slimey!
