I'm going to buy a humidifier for my son's room, does anyone recommend a brand? There are so many types and I don't want to get one that is cheap and doesn't do anything but I don't want to spend a ton on money on one that is as good as a cheaper one! Help! Has anyone bought one from a drugstore? Target? Walmart? These are all place close by that I would be going to. Thanks in advance!

I want one for congestion at night. Does that need an inhalent or just the moist air?

Brand names are not as important as the other things. You really need to look at this as in purchasing an appliance - and getting the features that you want.

#1 check for the best warranty... if the manufacturers don't stand behind the product, there is likely a reason why.

#2 what temperature is the vapour? If it is going to be around children (or pets) you want to make sure that it will have "cool mist" and that no exterior parts get hot to the touch. Does the plug get hot? Does it wind easily back into or around the appliance?

#3 How much water does it hold? A small tank means filling it frequently, a larger one is harder to fill and carry. How many gallons are you comfortable carrying?

#4 Does it have an auto shut-off when it gets dry? What about a warning light?

#5 Does it have a medication/cream holder (for drops or creams when kids are sick)

#6Have you got enough room to store it when you don't need it?

It is one of the best around, and less than $75. Any of the stores you mentioned are good.

It really depends on what you're wanting to accomplish. There are some brands that are designed to simply moisten the air using cool water vapor, others are designed to use inhalant in the unit. Vicks makes a vaporizer that is designed to use the Vicks inhalant, which is good for congestion. It is fairly inexpensive.

We have one from Walmart. I think it is called Vaporcare, but I am not sure. It was about $20.00. It works great. We use it at night with my son and we really like it. Hope this helps.
