at Nintendo WII. They're still too young to give me any competition, but I don't want to deflate their egos (nor do I want to pump them up too much). What should I do?

It depends how old they are--If they are quite young--like five or six--(they probably shouldn't be playing too many video games at that age actually--but I know parents who allow this)--well--yes--let them win--they are very young and need to be boosted up--if they are close to their teen years--well--you can be more fair about it--and they may honestly beat you anyhow!! I've read studies that winning does matter in some ways--that is--it is better for kids to slowly learn how to deal with success rather than trying something too hard--failing and then never wanting to try again--progress is achieved by small successes--In general try not to compete with them that much--just say--here is your turn--now it's mine--if you foster too much of a competitive attitude this will become the main motivator for your children--wanting to win--as oppossed to doing things because they enjoy them...

I think you should play just a notch above their skill level at all times. This way the child is constantly challenged, and therefore may even beat you, but he does not get an ego about it. Also I think you should not even address the issue of winning/losing. I think you should instead point out specific maneuvers he does, giving compliments and advice when necessary.

there's a line between self-discipline and abuse. whilst i became a infant at my aunt's abode my cousin did some thing to me (can not undergo in suggestions) yet I instructed his father and his father beat him horribly. If I knew that would desire to have got here approximately then i does no longer have instructed him. My uncle burnt my different cousin's thigh fairly undesirable. this is infant abuse. Now, my mom, aunts, and grandparents disciplined/whooped my azz in simple terms great. I not often mandatory self-discipline, yet I undergo in suggestions having to flow and break a stick off a tree and the flavor of leather-based. as quickly as, whilst i became a infant my step-father went too some distance and hit me interior the face with a belt. My eye stayed slam close the whole summer time. i became youthful and did as my mom reported (did no longer say what certainly got here approximately) yet I desire i might have positioned him in penitentiary 10,000 cases over. there is punishment and then there is infant abuse. If I ever have babies then i visit self-discipline them as I see greater healthful, yet i visit actual no longer abuse them via fact i be conscious of how that's. Azz beatings save youngsters in line. Now, there are some youngsters the place beating their azz would not do any good anymore. I also have a sprint cousin who's like that. He has gotten into lots hardship that as quickly as he's disciplined he's decrease back at it lower back.

Kids play games to have fun, don't make it about winning or losing. If you want to teach your children morals in regards to being a good winner and good loser than make sure that your games are not just nintendo...but out door sports as well. Good Luck!

It's good for kids to lose, otherwise they become poor sports. If you don't like beating them so much, let them play each other, or try finding a game they excel at.

You win some and then let them win some. Of course everychild will want to win all the time. It willinflate their little egos and make them strive to be better.

First of all NOT FUNNY! I'd say let them win once or twice but beware, they'll start beating you sooner rather than later. If your don't belive me ask YOUR parents to try and play a video game :)

I don't think adults should play video games very often personally, but yeah, it's ok to beat them. It's not about who wins anyway, it's about spending time together and having fun.

Let them win every now and then and tell them they are getting better. It will make you feel good and it will boost their ego.
