Most likely they were inventoried then stored until they were turned over to the Iraqi government.
At one of the FOBs I served at we had a locked room containing gold plumbing fixtures removed from the bathrooms. When we moved out of the former palace - everything was turned over to the Iraqi government.

The AK-47 is a RUSSIAN rifle. Did you know; in the Middle East there are 20 AK47s per head ?
As for the gold-plated ones, they are probably in some US generals house on a mantle-piece.

Ther was a couple made i saw one in basra in the captured weapons store at the APOD(airport) with the collection they have at waterloo lines .They also had a gold plated beretta (the one mel gibson has in leathal weapon films)Those saddam boys must have had a lot of time on ther hands................................

Would like to know too. Hubby said he found a few of them and wanted to bring them home as trophy's. But even though he said he wouldn't mind them being disabled he couldn't bring them. He found lots of weapons that he wanted to bring home that he didn't get too. Sorry I couldn't help.
