Why the Blues on V-day????

Question

I know its Valentines day and its a day that you and your loved one do something special and its the day that you get flowers or other small presents, BUT if you dont have a significant other dont feel BAD!!! I have this friend who is single and is not going to get romanced this valentines, she mad e a comment about how life SUCKS!! I just want to put it out there that V-day is about LOVE in general and you dont have to be "attached" to someone to enjoy this day. I am single too, and ending that relationship is the best decision i have made!!! So I am not going to have no V-day blues and you shouldn't either!!

Personally, because I have the day off [I can't understand why my supervisor decided to give the one single person in my department this particular day off], I was planning to attend a singles event at a local bar in hopes of meeting someone.

Also, having been alone over the past two Valentines Days, and all the days in between, I know what your friend is feeling. While I can't offer them any real advice for dealing with the loneliness, the technique that worked for me was simply to stop thinking about the fact that I was/am alone and concentrate of something else, like school and now work.

Society puts so much on Valentine's day.. If you really loved your boyfriend or girlfriend.. You would show them year round.. don't wait for that special day..In your case if you have no significant other.. there is pressure to have one on this special day.. People feel the same way about Christmas too. Not everyone is happy during these "special" days.. except the retailers.. Life doesn't' suck.. It's the expectations we put on ourselves. Good luck..
