As long as humans exist, deception will exist as well. It is the nature of things. I am sure that you have deceived yourself one time or another. I think that happens to the best of us at times. As long as we are imperfect humans, that is the way it will continue to be.

Because it is a world where we have good and the bad. Light and darkness. There was deception in the past , there is deception at present and there will be deception in future too as long as deceivers exist in this world. As Swami Vivekananda said that You & I cannot change this world but float without perturbed by the happenings of this world.

Because of Willful ignorance of Scripture...

" Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy..."(1Tim.4:1)

"...But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,deceiving and being deceived." (II Tim. 3:12)
