Can any Muslim out there enlighten me on what the Islamic views on what happens to a person when he dies? Christianity believes in resurrection in the eternal life.. How does the Islamic religion view this in their context? Thanx!

When death aproaches ,the angel of death(azrael) comes and takes your soul to allah. Though it is already in HIS hands. Where you shall meet allah and get judged according to your deeds. Where angels that have been with you from birth set forth your deeds. Those whose good deeds outweigh thier bad deeds will be admittedinto paradise. Some will not even have to see thier eveil deeds by the grace of allah. But for others, even thier limbs shall bear testimony to them. Almost the same thing as the christian belief, but muslims don't enter heaven. They enter/inherit paradise of allah. For there are many heavens. But ONE GOD.

There is aslo those whom shall be the dwellers of hell for etermity. In islam, all christians go to hell except the ones that bear witness that there is no GOD but GOD. When allah shall ask "whom have you taken as lord?". Those who reply saying that they took christ, son of GOD as lord shall be thrown in hell. But the ones who say thet there is no GOD but GOD shall be admitted to paradise. Even if they are christians. The ones who say they took jesus as lord shall be addressed, "You are a liar, becaue I have no son." Then they shall be thrown down to hell. But even there, MALIK is still mercifull.

But the belief for muslims have the same principal to that of christians. That they shall be resurrected and inherit the earth. Enter paradise. Where everyone will be beautifull and not covetting anything because everyone will have in abundance. So why even covet or envy. It is said that on the day of resurrection, people will see allah clear as day to how each and every individual visions HIM. And you shall receieve something that has never been imagined by any human being. Where people shall be maried to beautifull women who have not had thier hyman touched with irises black as onyxes. For the woman(to the misconception of most), recieve great rewards. I know not. "And allah knows what all knows not"-quran. So people who downplay muslim women, need to stop conjecturing. They will receieve greater rewards than most will even accept.

PEACE!

Edit: Culture and religion are two different things.

A person's body dies but his soul survives. The soul then awaits trial till the Day of Judgement, when everyone will be raised up as if from sleep. On the Day of Judgement it will be decided whether a person is to spend eternity in heaven or hell based on his beliefs and actions in this world.

To princessofppop above:

It is a mistaken belief that all muslims will go to hell for a while and then all will go to heaven after spending some time in hell. They will either go to hell or to heaven and stay there for eternity. And the concept of punishment in the grave is not widely accepted, it is something doubtful, but there is evidence that says that a soul will have some idea of its eventual outcome.

Edit for princesofpop: I could give some references, but that would take too much space here. I would urge you to go through the Quranic verses about the end of life and judgement. It clearly says that those whose scales are heavier (with goods deeds) will enter paradise, it does not say that they have to go through hell, there are numerous similar verses to that effect.

Hello,

I'll try and keep this factual and to the point.

Muslims believe once a person dies they pay for their sins in their grave whilst waiting for Judgement day. On Judgement Day they will rise again (resurrection) and pay for any sins not yet paid for.

After Muslims have paid for their signs they will then enter heaven-but not before. Doesn't matter what the sin was, a sin was a sin it must be paid for.

As Islam does not allow one to end their own life is say sometime died of an Overdose they will continiously die of an overdose until judgement day.

Hope that's helped!

Edited to put: Wafer, I never said a while. I said we'd pay for our sins. One second in hell will seem like an eternity anyway.
If you do not agree with me that's fine, however to say its a misconception (what I have put) without referring to a part of the Quran is a weak statement. I have not referred to parts of the Quran to keep my answer short and (sweet) as an answer about death could possibly be.
Also, please bare in mind there is many branches of the Islamic faith, only one quran. Translation will of course vary.

Peace
