People generalize because it is easier than to actually sit there and think about a specific item or thought.
Ex: Why do all Muslims want to kill "infidels"?
This is a question quite often posted here, and I can honestly say, as a Muslim myself, that this could not be farther from the truth. The majority of Muslims only want to have peace. But bad media coverage of the Middle East has cast a long shadow on the rest of us because of the actions of those terrorist in Al-Qaeda and the Shi'a.

Bryan...people of all sides generalize. Part of it is because we have not taken time to research the differences in certain areas such as any religion or belief. Generalizing is like stereotyping in a way...its easier, so we do it. I apologize if I have generalized about anyone. Each of us is a special, unique individual and we should always see each other that way.

In a simple question and answer forum that will always be the case. I try and always use the word some, others are less careful.

That's not being general when someone says, "why do so many...". They aren't saying all.
