I own chihuahuas and raise chihuahuas and I will always have chihuahuas in my life. They are the best dog breed that I have ever owned and I have owned many breeds in my 50+ yr. My kids were raised with chihuahuas and they were taught how to handle them from a very ealry age. Chihuahuas are fine with kids if they are raised with kids or are around kids when they are young. They are the best.

I have 2 Chihuahuas. And I love them! The Chihuahua breed is known for being loyal to it's family and being good with children. LIke with any dog, be sure to watch your small child when around any animal.

I had two chihuahuas, my oldest, a female, was a joy to have, my male was a pain, and didn't like many people, and actually bit quite a few of them. Neither were very good with small children, they got really nervous. I miss them both, but they are in a good home, that doesn't have small children, and their new owner is kind and gentle.

I've had my chihuahua for almost 2 months now. I have absolutely NO regrets about him. He makes me happier than ever. He is so sweet and playful and loves everyone. We have been taking him everywhere with us so he gets used to meeting new people and being new places. So far hes been great with small kids and everyone else he meets. This is my new favorite breed and i think i will own many in the future!!!!

I have 5. I love the breed. And have never regreted getting into chihuahuas. Most of mine avoid (but never hurt) little kids although they will get close enough for a pet or two but really don't stay in range to be played with. However one of mine just loves my 2 year old nephew and plays with him. Another one gets upset if he thinks a kid is in trouble (he hates violence in general anyway, but it's worse if a kid is involved). He went after my dh's cousin when he was rough housing with his little boy. He'll even try to defend kids he doesn't know.

I have two Chihuahuas. Since I don't have any children yet, I often refer to them as my children. I love those precious little monsters. I do have a 3 year old step-daughter who visits often, my dogs are fine with her. They all get along.

I have one that I rescued last summer, they think she is about 5, She is great with our 5 and 7 year olds. I think if you get a puppy and they are raised with the kids they will always be good with kids. My husband also always had them growing up and never had a problem. Just be sure you give the kids lessons on holding them, they are more fragile than a bigger dog.
Good Luck

i have a deer head chihuahua.i love her shes not snippy, but a little hard to potty train she is over a yr goes outside but will also go in the house if i don't watch her.and for some reason when i let her ou t she starts barking for no reason that i can see.so chuahuas can be snippy with children because there so small.they feel they must protect them self.mine is a good girl not snippy at all .her name is baby.

they are just like any other dogs toward kids if they are around them enough to know them than you have a better chance for them to like them. they are big on there loving attitudes.they can be very feisty and want only who ever will love them the most..go figure..lol..but you would never regret giving any dog the love they crave.so do what is best for you and your family take the time to know the dog check around to see which one suits you best.
