Here is a free website that will help you learn Italian.

http://www.freelearningitalian.com/

It may not be a fast way of learning the language, but it is good. It will send you a lesson a week, which helps you retain what you have learned.

Also, I have used this website (below) to learn Italian.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/italian/lj/menu.shtml

This website allows you to work at whatever pace you want. I have not found a site that allows you to put in a word and have it pronounced in italian, sorry.

If you go onto about.com you can also find pronunciation tools. I hope this helps.

I used the Learn and Speak Italian website, which covered the basics to intermediary. It was easy to pick up and the voice prompts are really good quality.
I found it really easy to get to grips with pronunciations as the vocabulary is spoken slowly then repeated at a normal rate.
A website called Italian Pod was helpful too but expensive.

i bought Pimsler's Italian Language CD at the bookstore (the beginners version) and it was great. you really do retain a lot from them. It was the basics but it got me by very well.
The library has the full version (free).
Go to any library and they should have a full version free.
