does anyone know how I would go about doing this and what I should have in it, what it should sound like or any good sources for this editorial report? Thanks for all your help.

maybe you can write about the present situation of china nowadays.how it has turned into a capitalist country and how it has affected the people residing there. because i've heard that though the country is developing in terms of business and lifestyle but the crime situation has turned really bad. there seems to be a lot of crimes committed against the chinese.

My biggest surprise on moving to China from the US was the (seeming?) lack of control from the central government over the citizens. While there have been crackdowns in the past, at this time people seem to go about their business (at a breakneck pace) to make as much money as possible.

One example, it is unlawful for a person to own a television satellite downlink. Yet, dishes can be seen in every major city.

For an editorial, learn about China, its history and culture, and then set about writing. If I had such an assignment, I would write about the very poor people of China being left behind by the rapid economic growth of the country.

Think about what your audience knows, or probably doesn't know. Inform them, enlighten them, encourage them. What do you believe? If you don't know your material, there isn't any sense doing an editorial, because you will come off sounding ignorant at best, and ridiculous or hypocritical at worse.

Do your homework. I suggest you read the encyclopedia entries on China to start off with, then some articles in The Economist, Time, US News and World Report, as well as Foreign Policy Journal.

As a reader, I would like to know, is China a military and economic threat to the security and welfare of the United States? Can we be friends with China, and if so, what do we need to do? How can globalism be effective in world peace and our nation's economic and political health? What markets can American business interests develop in China? What markets can we make available to Chinese business interests?

There is plenty of material for you, whether the topic be global security, economics, spirituality, cultural exchange. Just pick an area and start writing. Don't worry about your spelling or grammar at first. Just get the thing written. As a journalist, you have a deadline to meet.
