For the buses I seem to remember a ticket you could use all day was 4 Euros but you can also buy week tickets I think. Best check out the Rome official tourist site for more. You have to buy the ticket in certain shops to so allow yourself plenty of time to find these shops (like newsagents) if you in a hurry.

The buses are clean and efficient - so are the trams and Metro. When you get on the bus, stamp your ticket but only once - don't stamp it everytime you get on if you have a day ticket. Don't try to jump the buses as they do have regular inspectors.

Also for Rome -
-Take extra money - it's very expensive. Eye wateringly so!!
- Watch your bags and pockets as pickpoketing is rife particularly on the Metro and at big tourist sites. I know everyone says this but in Rome its terrible.
- The Colleseum is 12 Euros to get in but you can bypass the queues if you go on the guided tour (they caled anyone wanting the tour to the front when I went).
- Don't ask the gladiators who roam the streets for a pic unless you prepared to pay them - if you try to take a pic of them they'll turn away but will happily pose with you for 10 euros or so.
- The Vatican Museums are 12 Euros to get in and its a hell of a long walk round but very interesting - check out their mummy -eww! The Sistine Chapel is at the end of the Museums and included in the price but you aren't allowed to take pictures.
- If you want the full tour they sometimes do tours of the catacombs under the vatican but you'll need to look it up on the net. They are reasonably regular but must be booked in advance.

Have fun!!!!

My husband and that i went to Italy very last 365 days, and for the three days we were in Rome, we stayed at StarHotels Michelangelo. it really is about a three block stroll from St. Peter's sq., from that you'll get admission to Vatican city and the Vatican Museums to boot as St. Peter's. i presumed the motel replaced into very sensible and the lodging were large. I booked a eco-friendly Line go back and forth excursion - it really is a bus that is going everywhere in the city preventing on the important points of interest, and also you may want to get on only outdoors of St. Peter's sq.. You get out and see what you want to work out, stay as long as you want and then get on the bus even as it comes decrease back round. It makes an countless loop - that replaced right into a sturdy funding and that i somewhat propose it. It wasn't an open precise vacation, yet i needed to get off and stroll with the help of the numerous stops, so it worked nicely for me.

a week ticket would be like 5 Euro. I've never tried 1-day tickets, but they would be less...
