Lots of them.
Especially on my course, the 4th hardest one in California, Bridges Golf Club.
I'm a 15 handicap and I can easily lose over 9 balls in a roud there.

I know there are less in Winter than in Summer. I personally lose about 1 per round. If that's average, I'd say about 1,314,810 are lost per day.

They aren't lost, just mislaid! They are always where they landed until they're hit or picked up, so this doesn't constitute lost.
Imagine you've just hit the ball into a lake; you cannot see it, nor can you paddle out to it, and you certainly won't swim to it, but it is still there - you know where it is - you just cannot reach it.
IT IS NOT LOST!!!
