If god is a spirit, and has no (woman) equal, then why the heck is he always referred to as He. Yes we all know that God made Adam in His image but from a, dare I say, scientific stand point is there honestly any need for God to have gender? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

God made man (plural) not "a man" in his image. We just live in a highly patriarchal society and it's killer to the male ego to accept that woman actually runs this society. Not to mention the fact that over the centuries, the Bible has been hacked to pieces by MEN to reflect their own greatness. Hence why the Book of Mary Magdalene was cut from the Bible, but found with the Dead Sea Scrolls. It's a ploy by men to think they are in control of everything.

God must have the male gender in order for the paternalistic authoritarian heirarchy to keep its place of power and control in the minds of the believers. God doesn't exist. Free yourself from the power hungry religious authorities and start thinking for yourself. End all the wars taking place in the world which are fomented thru religions. Start taking an active role in re-making the world in a rational, logical, compassionate society. Join the athiests and live in peace and prosperity.

The version of god that came out of the mideast was not based on the divine, but on the Annanaki, who were in that region mining gold. The acutal story as found on the Sumerian tablets parallel it, with a few major changes. "Eve" was male and the snake a good Annanaki trying to help humans escape the slavery of the Annanaki. The legend was plagiarized in the garden of eden story.

You raise a GREAT question. Unfortunately these are one of those hundreds of questions that you would never get e true answer for from one who is religious.

You would be reverted back to your faith. There are many questions like the ability to walk on water, rise to the sky, part the sea, etc. that just do not seem possible, thre is no scientific explanation or proof and anytime that happens you just get reverted back to your faith and "How dare you question?"

I just know what the word of God says. It always refers to him as Father and he. I have never seen God but I trust in his word.
John 4:24-God is a Spirit and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in Spirit and in truth.

Its just simpler to say he. Males are the 'dominant' species so it would come to reason that people automatically assume that God is male. I agree with you, he is neither male nor female. We were all made in his image, men and women alike.

I would "guess" from the stand point of history "man" was the dominate of the gender from strength i.e. war and terror. One in general does not "fear" mother rather nurtured.

Because men wrote the bible?

Yet, even as one who believes God has no gender, I refer to God as he. Convention, I guess. 'It' sounds bad.

god has no gender, but in a paternalistic society, the tendency is to give God the gender of the one we pecieve to be the strongest.

This is a problem in languages like English. In languages like Finnish or Chinese there is no difference between "he" and "she", so they don't have this problem, nor the feminist debates on the same topic.
