A stabilized regional ally.

Currently, we are fighting to bring a measure of stability to the region. We can't just leave these people sitting there exposed to radical attacks and / or invasion by other countries. (Iran wants Iraq so bad they can taste it)

We invaded, removed the dictator and now we need to help them organize. Simple as that. Anything less would be a failure in relations and comitment on our part.

We are fighting in Iraq in order to stabilize Iraq and aid the Iraqi government to become more powerful so they can take care of themselves in the future. and it takes time for this, the American people need to be patient, war does not end quickly. And for anyone who believes otherwise, take this for example: If we leave, Iran will expand its influence in Iraq, and that is something we cannot afford to let happen. success will take time and it is reachable, you just need to believe it.
If we leave, our enemies will join together and more will come to aid them, that is why we must stay.

The west is in Iraq for oil money. That's what the whole thing was about. Getting rid of Saddam was the excuse to make it all sound legitimate.

George Bush's family own huge oil companies, and are using the US presidency to make their oil business even bigger.

Iraq is the new Vietnam, and it'll stay like it is forever. Its a vicious-cycle - the more the West stays there, the more Iraqis will join in the fight against them. The more Iraqis join in the fight, the longer the West will stay, and the more troops will be sent there. And so it will go.

Good on you for asking this question at 13 years of age. There should be more kids like you questioning what the adults who run the world are doing to it.

Long story short-If we stabilize Iraq, and have them as a strong Middle Eastern ally, it will greatly improve the entire region. Iran will not become the super power it wants to be and will not be able to. And it will prevent WWIII.

WELL YOUNG MAN, I HAVE A YOUNG SON ALSO.I BELIEVE WE ARE HERE FOR THE LONG TERM STABILITY AND SECURITY OF THE UNITED STATES. I BELIEVE THAT WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR "SWORN ENEMIES" NOW INSTEAD OF LEAVING THEM FOR YOUR GENERATION OR LATER TO DEAL WITH.
SOME SAY WE ARE HERE FOR OIL, WELL IN MY OPINION IF THAT IS TRUE, IT WOULD BE FOR EXACTLY WHAT IS IMPORTANT, THE LONG TERM STABILITY AND SECURITY WE NEED.
I BELIEVE IN THIS FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM/RADICAL ISLAM AND THAT IS WHY I JOINED THE ARMY WHEN I WAS 29, AND I AM WILLING TO GIVE MY LIFE FOR THAT. MUCH UNLIKE THE LIBERAL COUCH POTATOES AT HOME.
I AM HAPPY TO KNOW THAT WHEN YOU GET OLDER YOU WILL LIVE IN A MORE SECURE USA THAN WE WERE UNDER DEMOCRATIC RULE WHEN YOU WERE BORN.
