Being married for 40 years and having raised two sons, I have learned that: Men hate cards-they find them a waste of money, they have a great deal of trouble finding something that will please their significant other, flowers die (like someone else said, the roots on is better, Jewelery is just bling to show off, candy isn't good for you, and if it's all one way, what's the point.
Moreover, if a guy brings you something for Valentine's day, what he's looking for is something else...if you get my point. I don't believe that men are really romantic, their thoughts run in a different vein.

The only beneficiaries are businessmen and husbands to be or fathers to be. The sales of expensive flowers and gifts shots up. Valentine dinners are fully booked. The chances of successful proposal also go up. Same for successful conception in reproduction.

I think it should be banned. Who ever thought of it at the time may have been a good idea then, but now days it really sucks. It is just another day for merchants to sell stuff and make money. And who really has love these days? love is gone.

Normally I like it, but also as someone else mentioned I really dislike it. The person I want to spend it with isn't in the picture and it makes you sad. I am anti valentine's day today, so happy 14th to everyone.

I think it's cute for lovers and couples. It's a day set exclusively for them. It's a great excuse, as drdave said, to shower ladies with presents, and for us to receive them!! I'm single myself, and think it's highly commercialized, but I still think it's a nice day set aside for that special someone in your life. If you don't have someone special, then be happy for the ones that do!

I think it is unecessary. Personally I refuse to buy flowers for someone because the calendar says so. Where is the sponatanaity in that? I'd rather surprise her some other day. Doesn't it mean more that way when you give someone flowers for no reason?

I don't care for it much. My lover and I don't celebrate it since I don't see much reason behind the cheesy romance. I do desire intimacy, but not because we're told to. I want these things from the heart whether it's Feb. 14 or May 3rd.
