this guy is my ex and somewhat its been four years since i really seen him or had any contact with him. he gives me his number to call him so that he, his sister, and i could go out to eat lunch. i'm unable to because i have work and said could we reschedule it. he says sure and told me to call him to tell him when. I told him next month and he was ok with it. My thing is should i keep in contact with him and possibly think of him as a potential or should i just write him off as a friend and go about my daily life? I know i may have asked this question before but i'm unsure what his intentions are. Or should i just ask him?

I noticed no men answerd this for you. It depends on why you broke up in the first place. If you ended it and he did not want to if he thinks you are worth it he would probably want to get back together if he is not seeing anyone else now. Maybe he was seeing someone else and it is over now and wants to see if you could be interested again. Four years is a long time without communications. I would meet for lunch and see how it goes. I'm wondering why he wants his sister to come along. I would guess you dumped him and he might think if his sister came along you might be more apt to meet not thinking he wants to try to rekindle something. Also seems strange to me you have to wait a month to be able to meet. I cycle 4 days a week and fence 3 days a week but if my ex wanted to meet for lunch you wouldn't be able to stop me.

Probably what happened is that he got some new girlfriend. But maybe recently he broke up with her, and now hes trying to get you interested in him again.
Wether or not thats true, it seems like hes not very aggresive. If you want him back, move the lunch up and start seeing him more often. If you don't, just keep it touch. And if you want you can ask him, it can't hurt.

I would be very cautious, dealing with exs can always be tricky. I would just think of him as a friend and get on with your life untill the time (if ever) he says otherwise. You don't want to be getting your hopes up and concentrating on him until then, you might miss out on someone else right under your nose.

Ask him when you feel that it is a good moment. Remember that love is very confusing. Often a person is attracted to several people and sometimes it is too early to choose.
So just have fun. People who are enjoying themselves are attractive. Maybe you should spend your life with him or maybe not. You just have to keep going to find out. Usually it will become apparent quickly.

Most likely if you ask him he'll say he just wants to be a friend, so he doesnt scare you away. But My advice to you is, if you are really interested in knowing what his intentions are, then play along. But I personally think he likes you!
