This is a very broad question. However, just by being 14 and asking this question means you are already well on your way to being a gentleman. Just think of the words that make up the word gentleman... gentle man. You are respectful of yourself. Your home is clean, you are clean and well groomed. You are typically well read on a variety of subjects and are able to add to meaningful conversation. You are a man of your word. The promises you make are the promises you keep. You are kind to everyone no matter what and do not think of yourself as being above anyone. You take opportunites to make this world a kinder and gentler place. When you walk into a bank and see a lady or someone older walking out you take 5 seconds from your day to hold the door for them with a smile. You treat the world as if everyone in it is a guest and you are the host. (But don't confuse this with thinking you are god) When you see an unpopular kid at school trip and fall you immediately extend your hand to help him up. You are a gentleman because its important to YOU, not because its important to a girl. But girls will be wildly crazy about you because these are the virtues you bestow.

Now getting to your specific question... how to behave towards a girl. This is simple. Think about how you'd want your mother or sister to be treated by a man and then act like that man. Good for you for asking a such a mature question.

Not completely in this venue. But, I can give you some important PRINCIPLES that apply to gentlemen.

Rule #1: Treat ALL people with the same courtesy and respect, regardless of gender (not just females), race, religion, or social status (rich/poor).

Treat people:

1) as they wish to be treated, and
2) how you would like to be treated, and
3) how you would like others to treat those that you care about (mother/father/sister(s)/brother(s)).

Ladies usually like to be treated with kindness and consideration and acknowledged - a gentleman will learn what she prefers and do that.

Gents usually like to be respected for their accomplishments and abilities -- a gentleman will understand and do that.

Adults want respect from young people -- so do that.

Gentlemen are protective of others that are young (or elderly) or relatively weaker, male/female, rich/poor, young/old.

These are some PRINCIPLES that you can apply that will help you learn how to be a gentleman.

Well that's probably a job your mum and dad should do, however.....

One always be respectful to girls and later on women. NO hey baby etc and making kissing noises, women and girls HATE that.

Remember to say please and thank you and not get me this , give me that , go here , go there.

Don't call them nasty names even if they do tick you off.

NEVER NEVER hit, push , slap, grope , grab , make fun of, punch, any girl or woman.

Pull out her chair for her when she's going to sit down at a table so it's easier for her to sit down. Even open a door for a girl or anyone and say after you, don't knock her over trying to get through it. If she doesn't say anything say you're welcome, some girls and women weren't taught manners either.

Be respectful to her parents ,when you meet them call them Mr. and Mrs.....

I guess the big secret to treating girls, women, anyone well is to treat them with kindness and respect the way you'd want to be treated by someone.

Open doors for her. Treat her with respect. Traditionally one would stand when a lady entered the room, but this has fallen out of style. Some still stand when they return to the table - not done so much anymore, but still nice to see.

Show her respect. Open doors, pull out chairs, avoid references to body sounds, fluids, etc. Ask her about herself, don't dominate the conversation.
